In the 15th century, London streets saw a form of illumination with a decree requiring lanterns outside houses. Parisians, however, resisted a similar mandate, viewing it as an unwelcome tax. Modular Construction Stateside Thought I would share this … “ quadplexes” sound like a type of dinosaur 🦕 found here on the Jurassic cost but they are anything but: as George repeatedly said in the Allia Impact summit once a Mod Con house is constructed it is a home just like any other. One of the many reasons I support them is that from a Carbon Footprint point of view they are so energy efficient. As John pointed out the other day we Brits individual carbon emissions amount to us each in effect pulling behind us 3 medium size cars in weight pa In US it’s 15 whilst in Oz it’s 13 …. Because the Oz economy is so dependent on mining and selling raw materials to China; Japan Korea presumably . If the 1.5 million homes that New New Labour proposed to be built over 5 years can be modular and built to order initially on small pieces of non green belt land then that would not only reduce our individual carbon footprints 👣 but also protect the green belt allowing our farmers to grow precious crops on said green belt thus reducing our individual Carbon Footprints 👣 even further. And if Modular construction factories were sited in each of our 14 Free Green ports not only would there be juicy R&D capital allowances for wannabe Mod Con manufacturers but also careers could be created for UK’s 130,000 young 16-25 homeless through construction apprenticeships ….( NNL’s future wealth creators) and we could then start to export our Mod Cons to reduce our balance of payments deficit. Of course INW - it’ll never work. As George said in the week those who run UK construction really are a bunch of dinosaurs 🦖… but something needs to pdq.
