Today we reflect on the importance of holding safe spaces for communication. The Métis know how best to support Métis citizens in their communities who are dealing with mental health issues and recognize that open communication and vulnerable discussions are a big part this. Métis Governments and leaders work hard to hold space for critical conversations on mental wellness. From these conversations, Métis communities can develop culturally safe, effective, and community-led practices to deal with issues such as substance abuse and mental-health disorders. The Métis National Council is committed to supporting and facilitating the development of safe spaces for open communication on mental health topics for the Métis Nation. What type of Métis-led mental health supports would you like to see more of? #MetisNationalCouncil #MétisNationalCouncil #MétisMentalHealth #MétisNationMentalHealth #MétisCommunity

Healthy boundaries are a key part of achieving long-term recovery. Lines are often blurred--or even nonexistent--when someone is in active addiction, causing harmful or dysfunctional relationships with loved ones. By re-establishing firm and safe boundaries, individuals can build a strong framework to foster improved mental health and overall wellbeing. #MentalHealthAwareness #MHM2024 #Boundaries #SubstanceUseDisorder #MentalHealthTipFriday
