I’d love to connect and discuss one of the largest modifiable risk factors you didn’t mention, ACE’s or adverse childood experiences. It would be interesting to see the comparison between these ACE’s and health risks, like cancer. The research that Dr. Felitti and Dr. Anda propose that the higher ACE score you have or more ACE’s you have, the higher your chances are for poor health outcomes. Your take on alcohol is interesting. Addiction is one of the ACE’s as described on the ACE questionnaire. Great information. I’d love to see more about what Iowan’s are experiencing as a whole in regards to risk factors. Always willing to connect!

Radiation has now been shown in 3 separate trials to improve survival in metastatic cancer patients. Great news as we push for better!! The amount of information out there today is staggering and it takes a team. This weeks article reviews 4 trials - just from this year showing radiation offers significant improvements in outcomes.

The Iowa Cancer Registry released the 2024 Cancer in Iowa report which shows Iowa continues to have the 2nd highest and fastest-growing rate of new cancers in the U.S. There are many factors that play into the cause of cancer and no one cause is to blame according to the report.
