The Choosing to Serve survey for Oregon current and former police officers is still open! The response so far as been AMAZING and we are always looking for more participants! We are especially looking for responses from more women officers and former officers. Please share! DPSST Research is seeking insight on what matters to Oregon law enforcement officers, and what has the potential to draw them to – and keep them in – a policing career. https://lnkd.in/gFuhcems Why are officers entering the field? Why is lateral movement so common? Why are officers leaving the profession before qualifying for retirement? To answer these questions, DPSST has launched a statewide survey for current and former Oregon police officers of all ranks. This anonymous, research-based survey should only take a few minutes to complete, and it will be open until Jan. 30. Here’s the link again: https://lnkd.in/gFuhcems

If you do business with Travis County or any county, this is a good article if you aren't sure what a County Judge is or does. It's important to know and understand. Thanks Travis County Judge Andy Brown and all County Judges for what you do.
What does a county judge do in Texas anyways? Hint: I'm not in the courtroom. https://lnkd.in/gYSCn-zp

As we step into another quarter, the latest statistics from March 2024 reveal a nuanced landscape of employment for our veterans (Veteran Unemployment Rates | U.S. Department of Labor (dol.gov)). With the veteran unemployment rate at 3.0%, slightly up from 2.8% the previous month and from 2.4% the previous year, it's evident there are challenges ahead. Yet, when we look closer, these numbers not only highlight areas of concern but also opportunities for growth and support. In comparison, the non-veteran unemployment rate stands at 3.8%, unchanged from the previous month and up from 3.5% the prior year. This gap, though marginal, underscores the resilience and the unique value veterans bring to our workforce. A deeper dive into the data reveals more about the landscape: The unemployment rate for women veterans stands at 3.4%, on par with their non-veteran counterparts. Male veterans experience a lower unemployment rate (2.9%) compared to male nonveterans (3.8%). Veterans with disabilities face a 5.3% unemployment rate, significantly lower than the 7.3% for nonveterans with disabilities. White Veterans 2.8% and White Nonveterans 3.2% Black Veterans 3.4% and Black Nonveterans 5.6% Asian Veterans 2.5% and Asian Nonveterans 3.0% Hispanic or Latino Veterans 3.3% and Hispanic or Latino Nonveterans 4.5% These figures not only shed light on the varied experiences of our veterans but also call us to action. At Veterans Bridge Home, we see these statistics as more than numbers—they are a call to bridge the gap between our veterans and meaningful employment. To Employers: Our veterans bring a wealth of experience, leadership, and resilience to your teams. By partnering with Veterans Bridge Home, you're not just filling a vacancy. Please sign in PRO for Rent Stabilization ESHB 2114 Dear Members and Friends, The Washington Legislature is now considering passing a ground-breaking law that will regulate the cost of rent, extend notice periods for rent increases, limit move-in costs and establish a late fee that cannot exceed 1.5% of monthly rent. The hearing for *House Bill 2114* <https://lnkd.in/gTUaVzDD> is in the Senate Ways & Means Committee on *Thursday, February 22.* *Please sign in Pro before 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. *In the first drop down list please select Pro, add information and position for the committee. Please share widely with your communities and organizations to sign in Pro and make their voices heard. Sign-in PRO <https://lnkd.in/ghkaN_uw> On 2/22/24 the decision to stabilize unregulated rent increases that are causing rent to skyrocket in Washington state will be made. It’s not uncommon for tenants to receive a rent increase that they cannot possibly afford that forces them to become homeless. Senior citizens living on a fixed income are returning to work in low wage jobs so they can pay the rent. This must stop. Please continue to urge leadership to pass HB 2114 and maintain the 7% annual rent cap approved by the House. *ESHB 2114 will cap rent increases at 7% per year. *This will ease the burden of the high cost of rent on vulnerable households and communities. Please sign in Pro to let lawmakers know how you stand on this crucial and lifesaving legislation. Share this message widely to everyone you know who will benefit from rent stabilization. *You can also provide written testimony <https://lnkd.in/gWjnq6e8> for HB 2114* Thank you for showing your support. In addition to signing-in PRO, please let your representatives know by *sending a letter today* <https://lnkd.in/gGPCGRu5>. The result? A more equitable and inclusive future for everyone in our state. Your voice matters, and by expressing your stance, you're actively participating in shaping a better future. *Thank you for your involvement and commitment to this cause.
