The Minnesota Department of Corrections recently released its 2023 Homelessness Report. The report shows that in 2023, 17.5 percent of people released from DOC facilities were homeless at the time of release. This is a reduction from 19 percent in 2022 and 25 percent in 2021. The DOC believes the downward trend is based on the following: DOC's efforts to better understand the needs of individuals. Ensuring professionals who working with justice-impacted people have the resources and services available to be responsive. Continuous collaboration across the state with stakeholders for inclusive access to and the development of new housing services and resources.
