Over the weekend, the #globalhealth agenda shifted focus to closing the care gap on World #Cancer Day. New data from WHO/IARC highlights the significant health inequities between countries in relation to cancer diagnosis and treatment. Did you know that there is a projected 77% increase from the estimated 20 million cases in 2022 to 35 million new cancer cases in 2050? This increase could widen disparities between countries if left unchecked. You can learn more about this pressing issue and how we can work towards closing the care gap by clicking the links below. 🌍 WHO/IARC: https://lnkd.in/dtb6PzuW 📣 UICC: https://lnkd.in/dMxWwuUE #WorldCancerDay #NCDaction #CloseTheCareGap

It is crucial to prioritize #earlydetection in the battle against #cancer. Among women, #cervicalcancer and #breastcancer are the most commonly diagnosed cancers and have higher mortality rates - especially in Africa. However, these deaths can be prevented through early detection. Therefore, it is highly recommended to #GetTested as it is the easiest way towards fighting cancer.
Unathi Lepuwana's story of her fight against cervical cancer is a powerful testament to the importance of early testing. In many African countries; physical, psychological, societal and access barriers prevent women from being tested. Collaboration across public and private sector is critical in the elimination of these barriers. Early #HPV testing can help prevent cervical cancer and save lives. #CervicalCancerMonth #CervicalCancerAwareness #CervicalCancerPrevention #LearnPreventScreen

Today is World Lung Day and I wanted to continue raising awareness of the racial health gap in lung cancer. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in both men and women in the US, but Black men have the highest death rate of any other racial or ethnic group. To help address this problem, my colleagues and I at Johnson & Johnson are developing a unique framework to build scalable lung cancer screening programs across geographies and systems, focused on improving healthcare disparities and promoting equitable access to lung health. Click here to learn more about how we are implementing and iterating on this framework through a pilot program with a national health system: https://bit.ly/46mwlGX #MyCompany #WorldLungDay #LungCancer #OurRaceToHealthEquity Samantha Kirby, Jeff LeCates, Dianna Cobb, MHA, MSN, Miles Asafo-Adjei, Sam Younger, PhD, MSN, MHA, Sara McNally, Ashley Williams, MBA
