With the increased accessibility of smart force plates like AxIT Stomp-IT, tests like isometric calf raises have become more available to everyday health and fitness professionals. Using a Smith Machine or a heavily loaded barbell to create an immovable resistance, the client applies very high pushing forces as quickly as possible until reaching maximum effort. Force plate outputs can provide external feedback to help you track performance, and identify limitations or imbalances. Often these peak force outputs can be approximately 2.75-3.5 x Body Weight in trained individuals with higher results often being shown to enhance athletic performance. Want to learn more about how you can start testing isometric calf strength in your clients. Go to www.strengthbynumbers.com to learn more. #isocalf #calfstrength #calfraise #isopush #forceplate #sprint #sprinter #sprintcoach #s&c #anklesprain #physio

Are you going at your rehab alone? Going at it alone is very rarely the solution. When are you away from your team-mates in sport, you're typically going through that long rehab journey - just you and your thoughts. So when all of a sudden you have a new team around you in the gym, all going through different rehab journeys, but with ultimately the same goal of getting back on the field it makes the process just that little bit easier and enjoyable. For Jonathan, he managed to get back from ACLr after 9 months, earlier than expected. But most importantly you have support during that rehab process, but also when you’re back on the field or court doing what you love. Going at your rehab alone? We are here to help! #athletesauthority #successisateamsport

So you don't like the beep test? The light-footed runners love it. Those with a little more mass, survive and power their way through. Those who don't work on varied fitness training... well don't usually make it to this stage. Passing this part of a fitness test means not just having good 'stop n go' endurance (I'm keeping all the fancy terminology out so everyone can understand the context of this post), but building a strategy of starting power, stride cadence then when to slow down, which foot to pivot off to return back. All this so movement is efficient thus saving time and every little bit of energy. The real-world application? Having the ability to all of a sudden move, going from Code Yellow to Red while executing other functions in the interest of public safety... in the interest of self-preservation. Not happy with yourself? Only you can change that. Us coaches, can only do so much for you. We will always help... but you need to truly put the work in. #police #lawenforcement #security

Brand Manager RVE - Science-backed compression wear that boosts recovery 📈 & RectoVerso Sports - Sustainable luxury activewear
"Ow yeah compression garments, we let our players use them for travelling." "Oh yes, I use compression socks for running so I don't get too sore." ... People often underestimate the usability and impact of quality compression garments. So here's my advice: For amateur and pro athletes - It's not only for Performance or Recovery. For Athletic Trainers & Physiotherapists - It's not just for travelling. At RVE Compression we try to develop products that go beyond. Our products are valuable during and after training and/or games. But also come in handy for rehab/retraining, the off-season, long-distance travels, and even acute-care management. Each aspect crucial to the success and longevity of athletes. 📈 With the input of a recovery expert, available research and athlete feedback, we've developed guidelines 📖 - How and when to effectively implement RVE products to get maximum results. This is just the beginning. More insights are coming your way in the next weeks and months. 📊⏳ #RVE #sportscience #recovery

Managing workloads of fast bowlers is a careful engineering process Based on Tim Gabbett’s work understanding the balance between long term CHRONIC LOAD and ACUTE LOAD will provide you with the process that enables fast bowlers to balance being over bowled or under bowled. AC Ratio is part of the process but each delivery has a different impact on the fast bowlers system. During my time in the IPL I ensured that bowlers, where possible would be monitored and managed. This relies on monitoring ball speed that that will provide data for the INTERNAL LOADING . A higher ball speed delivery has a greater impact on the body than that of slower balls! ‘Acute workload is what you’ve done recently; generally the last week of training, and chronic workload is what you’ve done over a longer period of time. Generally chronic workload refers to the previous three or four weeks. These numbers help illustrate both the positive and negative aspects of training as the acute workload is representative of fatigue, while the chronic workload is representative of fitness level’- Tyler Anzmann ‘Load can be further divided into external and internal load. External load is the act of training or competing, while internal load is how you respond to that stimulus physiologically, psychologically, and biomechanically’-Tyler Anzmann This information will now be used in the PACELAB AREG APP and I’m sure will have a huge impact on performance levels of bowlers globally. Generic workload simply do not work. Counting the amount of balls or imposing rest days is not the way forward. Monitoring the daily load, ball speed in relation to previous workloads is the future. Underbowling young bowlers leads to high acute spikes which may lead to injuries. The careful periodised chronic workload of bowlers as they are maturing is a more effective way of ensuring that we , not only have FASTER BOWLERS, but also HEALTHIER FIT BOWLERS. Gabbett’s research suggests that a ratio between 0.8 and 1.3 is the “sweet spot” for improving fitness while minimizing injury risk, and that a ratio of 1.5 is when injury risk begins to rise sharply (Blanch and Gabbett, 2016) Look out for the release dates of the app #pacelab #areg #acratio #workloadmanagent

#WhatHadHappenedWednesday Who remembers these? Strength Shoes aka "Guaranteed Knee Issues" My interest in sport science started harmlessly with wild products like Strength Shoes. All I cared about was dunking and running a 4.4, and I was willing to do anything to get there. Parachutes, insoles, terrible milkshakes, weighted vests, and yes... platform shoes. It never occurred to me that this device was teaching me improper form. And while that might work in the short term it will most certainly hurt in the long term. The only results I am sure of is tendonitis. As we venture out into the sports science space with BreakAway Data I am always reminded of my experiences with these devices. Players are willing to do anything to get better, but that doesn't mean you should sell them just anything. Every athlete has different needs, and a tool for one might be just be a toy for another. The technology and data in sport science has led us to record breaking performance, athletes playing into their 40s, and a new generation of athlete more physically developed and skilled than ever before. And lets be clear, there is no such thing as "game-changing" tech. The athletes are changing the game as leagues are being forced to create new rules to account for these new breed of exceptional athletes. And BreakAway Data we are excited to be a part of their journey. More than anything I should of realized that any product that gets mocked on Seinfeld is not a product for me. https://lnkd.in/gXmD7ztn
