As we commemorate the 248th anniversary of our independence, it is important to reflect on the sacrifices and struggles that our forefathers endured to secure our freedom. We must remember that our liberty was not easily won, and we must always be vigilant in defending it against any threats or challenges. Throughout history, our nation has faced numerous obstacles and adversaries, but we have always stood strong and united in the face of adversity. Our founding principles of freedom, democracy, and equality continue to guide us as we strive to create a more perfect union. As we celebrate Independence Day, let us honor the brave men and women who have fought and sacrificed for our country. Let us also reaffirm our commitment to upholding the values and ideals that make America a beacon of hope and opportunity for people around the world. In the words of President Ronald Reagan, "We will not go quietly into the night, we will not go without a fight." Let us continue to proudly celebrate our independence and stand as defenders of liberty for generations to come.

Learn more about the rich history of the banner that inspired our national anthem
Happy Independence Day! Huge, vibrant, and rich in history, the Star-Spangled Banner is one of the most recognizable icons of the United States. Most Americans are familiar with its story, too: it flew over Fort McHenry after the Battle of Baltimore in the War of 1812 inspiring Francis Scott Key to write what would become the national anthem. However, there are some lesser-known facts about this iconic flag. Learn more in our blog: https://s.si.edu/3LaFVUB

As we celebrate Juneteenth, let's celebrate & recommit to the teaching of truthful history in our schools. The battle to do so must continue, in the face of organized opposition to teaching about the history and reality of systemic racism. Starting with the history of Juneteenth itself. It wasn't "news" about emancipation that traveled slowly; it was the power & the will to enforce it. "Even following the arrival of the power to enforce the emancipation order in the form of the United States Army, enslaved people were left with much of the responsibility to seize their own freedom." The USA has not only lost leverage in this region, but more importantly, voluntarily ceded influence over to Azerbaijani militants and indirectly facilitated their take over of Artsakh. Nearly all of the military ammunition used by Azerbaijan is supplied by Israel. The USA has chosen time and time again to strengthen their ties with Israel, and help bolster the Israeli defense industry by propping up the Azerbaijani military. The US calculation was to sacrifice a small, helpless Christian nation in order to fortify their influence and positioning in the region to defend against Iran, Saudi Arabia, etc. An unpopular opinion but here it goes: No one is coming to save Armenia. The nation has zero leverage on the world stage. Our people are best served immigrating to America, specifically, where they’re free to exercise their strong Christian faith, and free to rebuild a new Armenia as Saroyan envisioned. And yes, I know that’s a distortion of Saroyan’s original quote, but that doesn’t make it any less impactful. Rebuilding new Armenian communities in the United States will better preserve our culture, alphabet, language, food, dance/dress etc than proudly dying while defending land. In order to rebuild and preserve our culture, we need a thriving population of proud Armenians. That won’t happen when our men and women are dying in a war they can’t and won’t win.
BREAKING: U.S. Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. issued a powerful message of support for Artsakh: “The US needs to mobilize the global community to take action to ensure the safe return of Armenians to Artsakh & to defend their right to self-determination.”

🇺🇸⚔️ Remembering the American Civil War: Honoring Sacrifice and Struggle ⚔️🇺🇸 The American Civil War, a defining chapter in the history of the United States, was a period of profound conflict and transformation. Lasting from 1861 to 1865, this bloody and divisive conflict pitted the Northern states, known as the Union, against the Southern states, known as the Confederacy, over issues of slavery, states' rights, and the future of the nation. Despite the immense human cost and the deep scars left by the war, it ultimately paved the way for profound social and political change. The abolition of slavery, the preservation of the Union, and the expansion of civil rights for all Americans are among its enduring legacies. As we reflect on the American Civil War, let us honor the courage and resilience of those who fought and died on both sides. Let us also reaffirm our commitment to building a more just, inclusive, and united nation, where the lessons of the past guide us toward a brighter future. #AmericanCivilWar #RememberingThePast #BuildingABetterFuture 🇺🇸⚔️ https://bit.ly/3T1ZuCk
