What is TMS used for? 🔎 In Australia, TMS is currently TGA-approved for the treatment of depression, with Medicare rebates now available for eligible* adult patients that have tried two or more antidepressant medications without any significant benefits to their symptoms. It is generally used for those patients who do not see improvements from other treatments. TMS may also help patients with other conditions, such as OCD, PTSD, pain management and tinnitus, with evidence continuing to emerge for a range of psychiatric and neurological conditions. 👉 For more information on TMS and how it works, visit our website at www.modalis.com.au or email our friendly team at tms@modalis.com.au. #tms #tmstherapy #tmsaustralia #rtms #transcranialmagneticstimulation #repetitivetranscranialmagneticstimulation #brainstimulation #neuroscienceaustralia #perthclinic #perth

Austedo (deutetrabenazine) is a prescription medication primarily used for the management of chorea associated with Huntington's disease, a hereditary neurological disorder. Additionally, it is prescribed for the treatment of tardive dyskinesia, a condition characterized by repetitive and involuntary movements often stemming from prolonged use of certain psychiatric medications. Austedo works by modulating dopamine levels in the brain, specifically targeting areas involved in movement regulation. It's important to follow healthcare provider guidance closely when using Austedo and to discuss potential benefits and risks. - Want to learn more? TMS explained 🧠 Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a form of brain stimulation that uses electromagnetism to stimulate the nerve cells in the brain. By repetitively exciting or inhibiting these cells using the stimulation, TMS can produce long lasting changes in the brain to help treat a range of conditions. TMS is also typically used when other treatments have not worked. It is currently TGA-approved in Australia for the treatment of depression, with Medicare rebates now available for eligible* adult patients that have tried two or more antidepressant medications without any significant benefits to their symptoms. Certified Integrative Psychiatric Provider | Developer of the GROOVE THERAPY model | I help clinics stack revenue and provide innovative services through shared medical appointments | Speaker
Did you know that diagnoses can and do change over time? A diagnosis describes the state of your brain's neural connections and emotional responses at any given moment. Your diagnosis is a list of symptoms we track, measuring improvement (or lack thereof) in relation to our interventions. A diagnosis is not a genetic code that charts the destiny of how you think, feel, and act. When you include integrative psychiatric care in your treatment plan, you are taking an approach to your recovery that guides you through any shifts in diagnosis. We look at all of the symptoms individually and as a whole, addressing them in the way that fits your needs most, with or without medication. If you have been wondering what a different approach to your wellness plan could feel like, I would love to connect with you about integrative psychiatric care and if that may be a fit for you. Visit the comments or my bio to book your first appointment today and start investing in your health with support along the way. #PsychiatricNursePractitioner #IntegrativeHealth #IntegrativeMedicine #AcceptingNewPatients

Women were twice as likely to develop Bipolar Disorder for the first time during perimenopause , compared to before perimenopause. A team at Cardiff University School of Medicine and Bipolar UK studied 128,294 females from the UK. They looked at perimenopause to see if it was associated with an increased risk of developing psychiatric disorders for the first time. The results showed that perimenopausal women are more likely to experience bipolar disorder and major depressive disorders. Please book an appointment if you aren’t sure if you’re perimenopausal, are concerned about the safety and efficacy of HRT, or are just curious to learn more. @menopausefact.notfiction #menopausefact.notfiction #menopause #menopauseeducation #memopausesupport #midlifemadness #bipoaruk #bipolar

Childhood trauma, with subsequent trauma reactions and risky behaviours, is associated with pain. This means that already-vulnerable adolescents and young adults might be at risk of receiving prescriptions for opioid and nonopioid analgesics when they seek paincare. A Norwegian study* investigated the relationship of a range of childhood trauma exposures to risk of receiving prescriptions for opioid and nonopioid analgesics and, particularly, whether exposure to multiple trauma types would predict a very high prescription rate. They found that: · Overall, exposure to childhood trauma was consistently and significantly related to higher prescription rates for opioids throughout adolescence and young adulthood. · A higher cumulative load of trauma was linked to higher prescription rates for both opioid and nonopioid analgesics - suggesting there may be a dose-response relationship. This study highlights the need for prescribers to exercise extreme caution in prescribing opioids for this population. Furthermore, all practitioners need to use a trauma-informed and tailored approach to pain management for each vulnerable young person seeking help.
