Endometriosis Australia welcomes the announcement by the Hon Mark Butler to support individuals with complex gynaecological conditions such as endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome. The data from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) suggests that most care in complex gynaecological conditions, such as endometriosis, occurs in the private sector. As such, individuals affected by such health conditions already face extensive out of pocket costs. We welcome the increased Medicare Benefit Schedule funding for long consultations and hope that the increased rebates will be passed directly to consumers.
