Sarah Dusek, the visionary Founder behind #UnderCanvas, who put glamping on the map in the U.S., is now going global with her newest venture – sustainable safari and ultra-luxury outdoor hospitality company, Few & Far. 🐅🌍 Whether it’s lounging in stylish tents near #Yellowstone, embarking on a tiger adventure in #India, or exploring the Iberá Wetlands in #Argentina, the Duseks are redefining luxury travel on a global level. Expert storytelling as always from fellow fearless global traveler, Kathryn Romeyn! How can we be impactful in terms of the way we invest in people and the environment? "That’s taken me on an interesting journey thinking about carbon and conservation, with the idea of making an impact on local communities and managing land in a way that not only preserves and conserves, but also invests in making it even more regenerative. In our management plan, there are five or six streams, each with significant targets and benchmarks with an initial five- to seven-year plan. Carbon will be one very big thread of that, and social impact will be another. Some of that relates to job creation, and some is local economic empowerment in terms of who we buy from and do business with. Our first carbon project hit the markets in late April. We think we can do about 5 million tons of additional sequestering of carbon over the next 50 years from the one project we’re involved in so far in South Africa." P.S. Few & Far isn’t done yet! Opening in 2025, the brand is set to open their first-ever eco-lodge in South Africa’s Forgotten Mountains, Few & Far Luvhondo, featuring a first-of-its-kind aerial cable car experience, and groundbreaking carbon-sequestration projects. Thank you again to AFAR, Kathryn Romeyn and Jennifer Flowers for this in-depth piece on the magic behind Sarah Dusek and Few & Far! #fewandfar #sustainable #safari #travel #optoutside

In a few days in the Canary Islands we will have a big demonstration against -Tourism - Vacational Rental - Gentrification In favor - Degrowth - Sustainability - Better living conditions for locals, etc… "The Canary Islands have a limit': the islands united on April 20 in a large protest against tourist overcrowding" I feel we are not complaining about tourists, we are complaining about ourselves, about the way we have built our economy… - Tourists didn’t destroy our unique ecosystems, we did it… - Tourists didn’t built our resorts and tourist cities, we did it… - Tourist didn’t built this unsustainable economic system, we did it… I ask myself if we are ready to face the new Regeneration paradigm, can we “repair” this plane while flying? There are solutions, and there are people and company’s working for a better and sustainable Canary Islands, the sooner we understand we are facing a new paradigm, the better…

🌍✨ My Full Circle Moments in Sustainable Tourism! ✨🌍 Today, I had the privilege of speaking on the "Traveler's Voice - Inspiring a Sustainable Future" panel at Green My Experience, where I shared my journey in sustainable tourism. A decade ago, during my graduate studies at Boston University, I embarked on a transformative experience through the course MET AD 650: Economic Development via Tourism in the Developing World: Tanzania. This immersive trip to Arusha, the Serengeti's Simba Lodge, the Ngorongoro Crater and other local areas opened my eyes to the profound cultural impacts of sustainability on local communities. At that time, it further enhanced my global perspective and pushed me to think critically and innovatively about the future of tourism. Fast forward to 2024, and I found myself having a full-circle moment on the panel, reflecting on my recent project with the State of Michigan, where we celebrated the launch of EV stations in the Ontonagon area. Managing the marketing and user experience for this event was a proud moment for me, especially as we thoughtfully collaborated with local partners to elevate their voices and presence during key networking moments. Many stakeholders left feeling optimistic about Michigan's sustainable future, and the local businesses were reassured that the state is taking the right steps to preserve the breathtaking natural beauty of the Upper Peninsula while introducing innovations that will attract eco-tourists to the area. In hindsight, it seems my experience in Tanzania taught me the value of amplifying the voices of the locals while balancing business needs, a perspective I’ve carried into every project since. To me, sustainability is more than a buzzword; it’s a lifestyle. During the Green My Experience event, we also discussed the 17 ESG initiatives, and my key takeaway is that ALL are important – but the real action begins with starting where you are within your industry. 💡 Grateful for these experiences and the knowledge that keeps me evolving. Here's to continuing the journey towards a more sustainable future, one thoughtful decision at a time. Thank you to the team at Green My Experience & Robin Wood Sailer for getting me involved. Cheers to kicking off #ClimateWeekNYC #SustainableTourism #GreenMyExperience #EconomicDevelopment #EVStation #ESG #BostonUniversity #TourismInnovation #LeLabsGroup

Project Manager, Executive Director، Researcher of Cultural and Rural Tourism. new look at tourism, culture, and art
Practical action to protect, revive and promote the culture and art of the nations of the world. "Quad –Garden of Culture" Cultural, artistic, recreational, and tourism complex A completely new and innovative idea in a green, fun, and eco-friendly environment away from urban problems. Honouring Cultural Heritage The Future of responsible tourism The arrival of international tourists has increased from 25 million people in 1950 to 1459 million people in 2019 worldwide. However, during the past 70 years, no practical measures have been taken to protect, revive, and promote the cultural diversity of the world's nations (human intangible cultural heritage). The uniqueness of people and place, culture and heritage, community, and tradition remain the cornerstones of modern travel and tourism. If tourism is to grow responsibly, sustainably, and equitably, we must protect and preserve these assets that traditionally draw visitors to our project. From cultural heritage to cultural and creative industries, Culture is both an enabler and a driver of the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of sustainable development. My goal is to protect, revive and promote the culture and art (intangible cultural heritage) of different nations of the world. Discovering cultural treasures, ancient traditions, diverse food and lifestyles, manners and everything is the lifestyle of our ancestors. minimum of 30 million people per year for this project. I am ready to work with a European group to jointly implement this project. #change #culture #art #tourismtag #sustainable #QuadGardenofCulture #development #culturalheritagetourism #intangibleheritage #internationaldevelopment #unesco #sustainabletourism #tourismhub #creativetourism #foodtourism #Ruraltourism #tourism4sdgs #innovation #gastronomy #futureisbright #CreativeTourism #sdgs2030 #impactinvesting #FutureofTourism #tourismdeclares #internationalbusiness #Innovation #Creativity #regenerativetourism #investment #ideas #TurismoRESET #UNWTO #InvestinginPeople #planet #prosperity #SDGs #culturaltourism #handicrafts #travel #tourismdeclares. #culturalheritagemanagement #futureoftourism #TheTourismSociety #WTTC #UNAgenda2030 #WNCAF #RedefiningTourism #CulturalRevival

Administrative Professional + Nature Photographer. Helping people find balance and tranquility through support, art, and nature.
Curious to learn more about what we do at 4VI? This article showcases just one of the impactful initiatives we're involved in. Take a look!
Friday celebration time! 🙌 We're extremely proud to share this article that came out this week from The Tyee on our journey as a social enterprise. A huge thank you to Ryan Stuart for the time spent learning about our work and pulling this story together. A sneak peek: “It’s the proudest thing I have ever been a part of,” Anthony Everett, ICD.D said. “It was the moment when we realized we could be different.” [The Vancouver Island Coastal Tourism Resiliency Program, which provided funding and support for tourism businesses during the pandemic], provided a launching pad for Everett and his team. In 2022, they rebranded Tourism Vancouver Island as 4VI and emphasized a renewed focus on regenerative tourism. It’s an evolution of sustainable and ecotourism, and a response to “overtourism,” said Eugene Thomlinson, an expert on responsible tourism and a professor at Royal Roads University in Victoria. The idea is that visitors and their dollars leave the destination in better shape than they found it. “Tourism becomes a means to do other things,” Thomlinson explained. “It’s a means to protect the environment. It’s a means to bring about social change. It’s a means to ensure that tourism brings more positives than negatives for residents and the benefits stick around.” “People are going to keep travelling,” Everett said. “So, we have to keep figuring out how to do travel differently.” #4VI #vancouverisland #regenerativetourism #sustainabletourism #traveldifferently Hello Nature Adventure Tours WORTH Association Joanna Jagger, MA, CPHR Allied Certifications Ltd. Destination British Columbia 4VI gratefully acknowledges that we live, work and play on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Kwakwaka’wakw, Nuu-chah-nulth, and Coast Salish peoples.
