We secured a record breaking 29 medals—7 gold, 9 silver, and 13 bronze which is our best performance to date. 🇮🇳🏅 *️⃣The journey of our Paralympians is inspirational, marked by self-belief, exceptional resolve and determination to overcome the enormous challenges of their lives. *️⃣They achieved meteoric success, demonstrating that true strength lies not just in the body but in the mind, heart, and spirit. *️⃣Every competition they faced, every victory and even their failure tells a remarkable story of commitment, resilience, determination and grit to face the life head on regardless of challenges that come their way be it be physical, emotional, and societal. *️⃣Our athletes have shattered all barriers and proved to the world that limitations exist only in our mind. *️⃣Of course what truly set this team apart is their indefatigable mindset. From a lone silver in 2012 to 29 medals in 2024 - India’s rise in the Paralympics is nothing short of remarkable! 🇮🇳✨ India’s journey in para sports truly began with Girisha Hosanagara Nagarajegowda’s silver medal at the 2012 London Paralympics. It was a moment that sparked hope and raised important questions: Was one medal enough for a country with millions of people with disabilities? And more importantly, were we doing enough to support para athletes? Since then, something shifted. From four medals in Rio 2016 to an impressive 20 in Tokyo 2020, India’s para athletes have shown incredible growth. The 2024 Paris Paralympics proved that this momentum is only growing - India closed with 29 medals! As more heroes emerged, mindsets shifted, and the number of para athletes grew from just 50 in 2015 to over 1,000 today.
