For this #throwbackthursday, we are taking a look at the difference in wish applications we received in 2019 and in 2024. The wishes we provide are personal for every child and can be anything and everything from essential household items, such as a washing machine or a bed to a weekend trip away to create new memories after the often, upsetting ones made in hospital. 💸 Each wish costs our Charity £500 and over the years our increase in wishes, means an even bigger increase in costs. 📈 In 2019/20, we received 337 wish applications and in 2023/24, we received of 702 applications. Molly Ollys do not receive any statutory funding so your donations are vital to help us keep providing wishes for children across the country with life-threatening illnesses. To make a donation, please visit https://lnkd.in/eFU-Uj4m. Thank you.

"As we go about our daily lives, many vulnerable children in our community are struggling to access basic necessities like food. Hunger and malnutrition are stark realities for them, affecting their health, education, and overall well-being. We want to make a difference! Our organization is dedicated to providing support to these children, but we need your help. We're raising funds to buy food for those who need it most. • A $60 donation can provide three meals a month for a starving child/child in need. • A generous $250 donation can help provide three meals a day for 120 children in need. You can also focus and try making a one-time donation: We need your help to raise $7,000 this month, so that the 120 children under #Heart4Humanity will be able to have three nutritious meals a day for the next months. You can also be our blessing by leading a fundraising of our sustainable project. We have an Idea of purchasing and agriculture land, where we shall be able to farm our own food to feed these children. This will really cut the feeding costs hence leading us to self-sustai ability. Please Join us now on this mission to feed the vulnerable children in our community. Donate today and help us bring hope and nourishment to those who need it most. 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐚 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟗𝐭𝐡 - 𝟏𝟓𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 Charitable gifts in Wills are on rise – and for many charities this is now one of their largest sources of donations, generating £4 billion for good causes each year. But, in challenging economic times, this vital income has never been more needed. These donations are sustaining charities and services across the country, funding: • 6 out of 10 RNLI rescue launches. • More than 50% of British Heart Foundation funding. • Over a third of Marie Curie UK hospice care. • Crucial support for hundreds of small and community-based charities. But… although we are a charitable nation, many don’t think to include a charitable donation when writing their Will. This is why Moneybox Wills and trusts have partnered with Remember A Charity to raise awareness and encourage more people to leave a gift in their Will. If you or a loved one has been touched by a charity and you would like to find out how to support them, please contact Moneybox Wills and trusts today. #charity #fundraising #makeaWill

Last year, instead of providing members with a festive gift, we donated £10,000 across three chosen charities. We asked members again this year to tell us how they'd like us to donate another £10,000, as a more meaningful and sustainable alternative to a packaged present. The votes have been counted and the following donations have been made to this year's chosen charities. £5440 - Alzheimer's Society 🩵 £890 - Disasters Emergency Committee ❤️ £3670 - Mind 💙 We're sure you'll agree that all three are very worthy causes. #FestiveGiving #CharityGiving #MortgageNetwork

Yesterday I got a call from a charity for whom I was a SYBUNT (ie. I have given Some Year But Unfortunately Not This year). Let's call them Charity Proactive. The telefundraiser was very nice and asked me for a donation. My husband and I have created our list of intended donations for this year and we have made most of them already. Charity Proactive was not on the list this year. But given I had this nice lady on the phone, I thought, "Oh well, another $50 isn't going to hurt us." We're blessed that the cost of living crisis is not a crisis for us. So I said yes, got out my credit card and donated. So think about it: - I had not planned to give to Charity Proactive this year - but squeaky wheels and all that. - Charity Proactive asked me nicely anyway - people give when you ask them to (at least some of the time). - The problem and solution was outlined on the phone but to be honest, I can't remember much of what the nice lady said. I just know it will help people and help save lives. Donors don't always need tons of info about your evidence-based, innovative approaches in order to give. Ask and some donors will say no. But some will say yes. #fundraising #donors

🥳 We hear the term "niche" thrown about quite a lot and we seem to have carved out a very "niche-niche" with our online customers. The only thing I can connect it to is potentially lockdown. I celebrated my 40th in a hard lockdown and I think my story resonated. We have an enormous amount of January birthday customers and still to this day I can remember nearly all of their birthdays. Our family is almost all winter babies and someone in my family is born nearly every day in January (yes, I have a BIG family). As a result, we've always found Januarys are super busy for our online gifting side of the business. My take-aways are: 🎁 If you're born in January, you're generally not following the usual pattern that the rest of the world adheres to- Veganuary, Dry January and January diets. Being born at a time of the year when no one has any money (or the desire to leave the house) is punishment enough 🤣. 🎁 There's nothing in the shops, just end of lines and the scrag-ends of Christmas, so choosing a gift is even more challenging in January. 🎁 Lots of cafes, bakeries and restaurants are closed in January for "maintenance/ holiday time" so you can't even go out to your favourite spots to celebrate. With all of this in mind, we have really managed to turn these factors into a strength for our business and are always ready with our doors wide open come the first week of January. Regardless of the external factors, people still want to feel good and have a treat for their birthday. 🤭 Hilariously, after posting the video (attached) on Instagram, someone commented to say it was her birthday: she'd received 3 scarves and would have loved some brownies instead. This made me chuckle. I have to say that my family has a collection of scarves and hats that would make John Lewis jealous. I'm interested to hear if you've carved out any "niche-niches" for yourselves? Can you beat having a HUGE amount of January babies as customers? #supportsmallbusiness

As we near the year's end, let's reflect on our community's impact and envision future commitments to Jewish values. Guided by tzedakah, year-end donations support the work of the Jewish Federation, ensuring our capacity to continue creating a thriving Jewish community locally and globally. Make a Meaningful Impact: Your donation can make a direct difference in the lives of those in need. Whether it’s helping to provide meals for the hungry, supporting education initiatives, or providing disaster relief, your generosity can have a lasting impact. Maximize Tax Benefits: One of the key advantages of charitable giving at year-end is the opportunity to reduce your taxable income. Donations made before December 31st are eligible for tax deductions in the current year, helping you lower your tax bill while supporting the causes you care about. Inspire Others to Give: By making a year-end donation, you can inspire others in your network to follow suit. Your example may encourage friends, family, or colleagues to donate, amplifying the collective impact of your generosity. Take a moment this year to make a donation and be part of something greater. Consider contributing before December 31st. https://lnkd.in/gKjxDiNi #jewish #portlandoregon #charitabledonations #tdedakah #jewishfederationsofnorthamerica
