Today is "National Healthcare Decisions Day (sometimes referred to as NHDD) is an annual initiative celebrated on April 16th to encourage and empower people to begin or continue conversations about their wishes for care through the end of life. NHDD is an initiative to educate people on the importance of advance care planning. It encourages individuals to express their wishes regarding healthcare and for providers and facilities to respect those wishes, whatever they may be Overview NHDD was founded in 2008 by attorney Nathan Kottkamp to provide clear, concise, and consistent information on values-based, healthcare decision-making for individuals, healthcare providers/facilities and community leaders through the widespread availability and dissemination of simple, free, and uniform tools (not just forms) to guide the process. The date was based on the Benjamin Franklin quote that “[I]n this world, nothing is certain except death and taxes.” So, do your taxes each year by the 15th and review your health care wishes each year on the 16th".https://lnkd.in/guV-_rPE

Tomorrow is National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD), an annual initiative celebrated on April 16th. NHDD helps people understand that advance healthcare decision-making includes much more than living wills; it is a process that should focus first on conversations, encouraging individuals to express their wishes regarding healthcare so that families, friends, providers and facilities can respect those wishes when needed. Get ready to start a conversation. It's a wonderful way to show you care.

I fully agree and support Chris Gush's response to the Lord Darzi Report, emphasizing the critical role of clinical audit in continuously improving the quality of care and services. 🏥 Time and time again if undertaken correctly Clinical Audits provide essential insights and real-time data, driving quality improvement across the NHS. NHS organisations must ensure that care is regularly evaluated, with accountability from the floor to the board, to deliver patient-centered, evidence-based reforms. Proper reporting and governance are essential to uphold the highest standards of care. Transparency in decision-making, especially when it comes to clinical audits, is fundamental to building a healthcare system that values accountability and fosters continuous improvement for the public it serves. 🌍💙

It is no longer acceptable for data collection requirements to differ so markedly between the NHS and the independent healthcare sector. This divergence continues to hinder comprehensive healthcare workforce and infrastructure planning, fair competition both within the independent sector and with the NHS, and the ability to monitor and provide assurance regarding healthcare quality and safety.14 The government should take steps to harmonise data collection requirements between the NHS and independent healthcare sectors in the interests of patients’ safety. #ItsOKtoAsk! NHS Scotland’s ‘It's OK to Ask’ campaign is promoting open communication between patients and healthcare professionals, and encouraging individuals to take an active role in their healthcare journey. By asking questions about treatment options, patients become more informed and involved in decisions about their care. The campaign centres on four key questions for patients to consider during consultations or discussions about their health and care: the benefits and risks of treatment, alternative options, and the consequences of doing nothing. https://lnkd.in/e7sq2XwU
