Commenting on the announcement, Toshiaki Nomura, President & CEO, Canon India, said, “The establishment of new #skillcentres is a step towards providing market relevant #skills and meaningful opportunities that benefit the #youth in building successful #careers and contributing to the country’s economy. This initiative is more than just #training; it’s about instilling hope, confidence, and the ability to dream bigger. This program represents #Canon India’s broader mission to drive sustainable development and empower individuals to achieve their fullest potential.” Through a comprehensive 2.5-month #training period, participants will engage in a blend of hands-on group and individual activities covering key areas such as English language proficiency, IT proficiency, and essential life skills. This training model promotes peer-to-peer learning, encourages collaboration, enhances communication, and boosts confidence, ensuring that participants are well-prepared to handle job interviews and navigate the job market with ease. Further elaborating on the details of the new initiative, Sukumaran C, Senior Director, Product & Communication, Canon India, add, “Through the Skill Development & Livelihood Program, we aim to not only equip individuals with the skills needed for today’s #jobmarket but also support their path to employment, financial independence, and higher family income. Canon India aims for 70% of the trained individuals to secure #jobplacements post-training, enhancing their #employability in multiple sectors.”

The #SkillIndiaMission aims to equip India's youth with industry-relevant skills and bridge the gap between education and employability. Schemes like Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (#PMKVY) and Jan Shikshan Sansthan ( #JSS ) cater to rural and urban youth, focusing on industry-relevant skills and entrepreneurship. The National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS-2) and Craftsman Training Scheme (CTS) provide job-oriented training through apprenticeships and Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). To bridge the employability gap, #SkillIndia collaborates with the private sector through Rozgar Melas and Skill India International centres. The New Employability Skills curriculum equips learners with 21st-century skills, while the Skill India Digital (SID) platform offers online courses and job opportunities. Also, Skill India integrates soft skills into training programmes, preparing individuals for diverse professional environments. Exciting News for youth in Tamil Nadu Tamil Nadu, a pioneer in many socio-economic programmes and one of the most industrialized States, has embarked on yet another groundbreaking initiative to improve skilling and employment opportunities for youth, especially in rural areas. Announcing the launch of Ilaya, an AI Chatbot, as part of the visionary project “Ilayathalam” (Portal for Youth) – which itself is part of the Statewide skilling platform “Naan Mudhalvan” (I am Number One). In simple terms, any rural youth – whether S/he has completed Class X, XII, ITI / Diploma or degree can get guidance from the AI Chatbot. This initiative, spearheaded by the TN Skill Development Corporation (a State government company) will assist and guide unemployed youth towards promising job opportunities and / or job oriented skilling. No such parallel exists in India. Key Features of Ilayaa AI Chatbot: Tailored Assistance: Ilayaa is here to provide personalized support for job seekers and skill enthusiasts, spanning from 10th pass to Graduation. Aspiration Mapping: Our chatbot not only assists in finding suitable opportunities but also actively collects aspirations from the youth. This invaluable data allows us to align our efforts with the dreams and goals of our dynamic youth population. Naan Mudhalvan Scheme: Through this initiative, we offer an unpaid scheme that includes job placements and skill training.
