What does this picture say about Bolt culture, and why did the honey badger become the face of it? 🚀 I’ve posted a couple of job opportunities here lately, so today I wanted to touch on something that, based on my experience, is particularly important when choosing our work environment: company culture. 👩💻 Corporate culture is something that all organizations like to think they have, but only some truly embody. It's because it's not about the values we declare and hang on the walls - it’s about the principles people really live by. And here comes the honey badger - the symbol of Bolt culture and, reputedly, the most fearless animal in the world. 💪 Over the last decade, I’ve noticed two types of corporate cultures and leadership styles: fearful and fearless. In some organizations, fear still seems to be a management tool. But the thing is, you can’t expect your people to be fearless towards the competition or business challenges while being fearful towards you and the organization. Overcoming business challenges requires a mindset of courage, which, in turn, takes empowerment, consistency, and other honey badgers to cheer for you. 🧠 So, what are the things that can help you build a strong culture and make your teams fearless? 1️⃣ Start with clarity – Know what the most important values are for you and simply tell your people about them. Include qualities like ownership, educated decisions, and calculated risks, which enhance the experimentation and learning curve. At Bolt, we operate with 10 easy principles that help us lead and make decisions daily. Everyone knows them. 2️⃣ Add context – Ensure your teams understand both the why and the impact. And then, be open to having a conversation about it or being challenged. Yes, having fearless teams means that as a manager you’ll face a regular feedback loop, which is great. 3️⃣ Finish with consistency – Follow the principles and lead by example, with no exceptions. Consistency is the glue that holds everything together long-term. Slipping here takes you back to the starting point. P.S. I took this picture last year during the annual Bolt Summer Summit, and I kept it because it’s a great representation of the culture we embrace at Bolt. And, since having fun is yet another principle we consistency follow, stay tuned, as we're just getting ready for the 2024 Summer Summit edition. 🌅 #bolt #corporateculture #mindsetofcourage #teamempowerment #leadership
