The skin packaging market is experiencing notable growth, driven by its increasing demand in various sectors, including food, consumer goods, and industrial goods. The global skin packaging market was valued at USD 11.2 billion in 2023, growing at a CAGR of 6.3% from 2024 to 2033. The market is expected to reach USD 20.6 billion by 2033.
Key Drivers and Restraints
Drivers:
Sustainability: The push for eco-friendly packaging is a significant driver. Skin packaging uses less material and can incorporate recyclable components, reducing environmental impact.
Extended Shelf Life: Especially important in the food sector, skin packaging helps extend the shelf life of perishable products like meat and seafood by providing an airtight seal.
E-commerce Growth: The rise in online shopping has increased the demand for protective and visually appealing packaging, which skin packaging effectively provides.
In collaboration with Koa Health, Berry Global, Inc. Group introduced bottles for body cleaners and moisturisers that are composed entirely of recycled plastic. Berry, an industry pioneer in sustainability, shares Koa's aim of improving environmental impact via streamlined operations, consistently involved partners, and optimised goods. Because Koa and Berry have a similar aim for sustainable packaging, Koa selected Berry as their supplier for this project.
Waddington Europe , a division of Novolex, created a new recyclable tray specifically for meat, fish, and poultry products. Rather than employing polyethene or an adhesive layer, as is typically the case with modified environment packaging lids, the Piranh container's lid is sealed with raised teeth around the sealing flange (MAP).
