Day fuck knows... of dealing with Monzo Bank Their 2 -4 weeks to give me my money back expired yesterday. When asked basic questions, I got vague upon more vague answers. Top hits include - Im pausing this conversation as it's going around in circles. (This is when I challenge their copy paste KBA responses) - No one can speed up the return of your money The CEO's executive complaints team answers are just as bad. - Your complaints handler is away - We don't know when she is back. Monzo Bank must think i'm going to roll on the floor and roll over. Wrong. These fuckers need dealing with and the bullshit they are operating under, is such a faceless environment & their attitude is "tough shit" deal with it. More fun to follow tomorrow.

I don’t know whether to be disappointed or proud of myself. I’ve had my personalised Monzo Bank 2023 summary and Pret A Manger was apparently top of my list for spending. Firstly, excellent additional personalised experience from Monzo. Secondly, I fear Pret mac & cheese may be dictating my life too much. Some advisers noted that current legislation requires disclosure of commissions and bank affiliations, with little variation in commission rates among lenders. Kiwibank are seeing confidence - reporting four months of continuous growth in property prices. From its November 2021 peak, prices dropped overall by 18% to May 2023, and since then, are back up by 2.8%. Kiwibank are anticipating rate cuts in 2024, which are expected to further drive price recovery. Interestingly, they have reported that there was a 47% gain in house prices in the 18 months to the November 2021 peak, which on reflection brings the Reserve Bank's response more into perspective. https://lnkd.in/gAWgQABe

As a kid, I clearly remember seeing those shiny credit cards engraved with my father's name. I used to think that credit card offers some form of exclusivity. Naturally, my immediate desire was to have one of my own. Little did I know that a 9-year-old kid with no financial history would not be offered credit card services. Ofcourse, I was disheartened because of two reasons: [1] Whenever I watched my father insert the pin for the card, it felt like a scene from a spy movie where you insert the secret code. [2] Seeing my father swipe his card gave me an idea of how it was a magical ticket granting access to anything and everything. I was giving in to my desire for all the LAYS and Cadbury UK I could buy. My first essential interaction where I did have a credit card was with the 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗽𝗼𝗹𝘆 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 game where players would interact with virtual currency instead of the cash notes. I ended up writing this post when I was asked by my sister this question: 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀? My immediate instinct was to reminisce over the 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗽𝗼𝗹𝘆 game I used to play as a kid. The smiling faces of bankers. Notice the similarity between the different bank branches and those endless close-up shots showing similar functionality of their apps. Financial services ads are all about “them” and very little about “me”. They're pushing products. They're not talking about money "feels."
