Did you know that women retire with significantly less super than men, and women over 55 are the fastest growing group of people at risk of homelessness? There is definitely more to be done but it's important to stop and acknowledge a movement in the right direction. Issued by NGS Super Pty Limited AFSL 233 154. Nationally, women earn 84¢ for every 1$ men earn, according to census data. In Greater Boston, women earn just 79¢ for every 1$ men earn, according to BWWC's 2023 Wage Gap Measurement Results. What can the big 4 banks in Australia do about their big gender pay gap? They can care about it. The answers to how are not unknown, that’s why there’s a respectable chunk of Aussie businesses of all sizes and industries getting this right. What can WE do about it? Use the power we do have to work for employers who treat people fairly, and direct our money to businesses that align with our values. #IWD #GenderPayGapReveal #EmployerGenderPayGaps #LinkedInNewsAustralia

Systematic differences in take-home pay between women and men are still a common occurrence across the industry. Better Work has contributed to narrowing such gaps, with a reduction in pay inequality reported immediately after our 1st compliance assessment. In #VietNam, for example, 85% of this pay gap was closed by the 4th compliance assessment. #EqualPayDay

Although women represented almost 59% of the banking and financial services workforce in 2021 (according to data released by Equi’Vision), on average, women in finance still only earn 82 cents for every dollar earned by their male counterparts. This number is even lower for women from equity-deserving groups. This disparity is indicative of broader societal injustices that demand urgent and transformative action. The challenge is not a lack of women employed at these institutions, but rather their representation in senior positions, and the systemic barriers that play into this imbalance. We need a fundamental shift that changes the status quo so that the talents and contributions of women are being utilized in the finance sector. We must continue to create cultures of respect, enact equal pay and pay transparency, have adequate parental leave policies, and incorporate unconscious bias training at every level, so we can eliminate pay inequity once and for all. The gender pay gap in the UK currently stands at around 7.7%. Men make up 96% of fatalities in the workplace. Perhaps we should stop calling it unequal pay and start referring to that 7.7% as danger money.

The gender pay gap often makes headlines, but the impact of the housing crisis on women rarely gets much attention. Yet, research by UK Women's Budget Group indicates there is now not one area in England which could be considered affordable for a single woman to rent or buy a home. 🏡 The average UK house price is now around eight times men’s average salaries and 11 times women’s. 🏡 In London, average house prices are now 13 times men’s salaries and 16 times women’s. Thanks to Victoria Spratt for highlighting a problem impacting many women's dreams of homeownership in her recent opinion piece for The i Paper Full article linked in comments. #womeninhomeownership #homeownership #genderpaygap #genderhousinggap #housing

Fewer than one in 10 of Europe’s best-paid bankers are female, new research shows, highlighting the wide gender pay gap in the financial services industry. Just 183 out of 2,017 people earning more than €1 million ($1.1 million) were female in 2022, according to data published by the European Banking Authority (EBA). It’s the first time the institution has provided a gender breakdown in its annual high-earners report. The lack of diversity in finance has long been recognized as a problem but change is slow even as authorities around the world seek to close the gender pay gap. Read more: https://lnkd.in/evuEK3NK
