Sorting donations with a smile at The Baby Bank, Windsor.🧸 Last week, seven volunteers visited The Baby Bank in Windsor, a local charity that provides essentials to families in need. The organisation collects good quality second hand clothes, toys and furniture to support families across Berkshire, distributing newborn starter kits, essential supplies, clothing bundles and school uniform to those who need it the most. The team spent the day helping out at the donation centre, sorting through the generously donated items and ensuring each one is in good shape, ready for its new home. The Baby Bank is a community run organisation that relies on people’s time and compassion to keep going, so it was a privilege to be able to support a great cause in their pursuit of giving children the best start in life. Giving a child a book they can own can be a powerful investment in their future and their wellbeing. That’s why we’ve been working with the Children's Book Project to do just that. Using our business to do better, as a B Corp. So we put out the call to our shoppers to leave out any children’s books they’d like to donate and we’ve had a great response. On top of making our weekly deliveries, our incredible drivers have been collecting these donations, ready to bring back for our charity partner to sort and re-gift. We’ve estimated around 8,000 books have been donated and we can’t thank people enough for the kindness that this shows. From our generous shoppers and hard-working drivers to all the team at The Children’s Book Project. “Once again, the families that shop with Abel & Cole have amazed us by donating thousands of preloved children’s books to The Children’s Book Project. They are now on their way to new adventures with children, many of whom own few if any books of their own. Families can continue to donate books all year round at drop points or with free doorstep collections, by visiting https://lnkd.in/eCVDCxqv. Thank you for your support" Kristin Knell, Children’s Book Project. #Charity #Community #BCorp #Donation

In our company, employees open their hearts wide for good deeds ❤️🩹 One way to help is through donations. ⚡️ Our company has a donation system, and contributions can be made in the following ways: 1. Opting out of birthday gifts. In this case, the entire amount will be donated to charity. 2. Opting out of quarterly team-building activities. This money can also be sent to those in need! 3. Donating your corporate points, which the company converts into real money and sends to charity. By the way, each employee or department can choose whom they want to direct their donation to. For example, in 2024, the record recipients were animal shelters, and we also help children and elderly people. It’s especially gratifying that in 2024, the total amount of donations nearly doubled! We are proud of this trend and continue to stand by those who need it most 💚 #betera #team #csr #donation #gooddeeds

“Small, but mighty” is something that couldn’t resonate with us more at Lewisham Donation Hub 💪 This week is #SmallCharityWeek and a time to celebrate the impact that small charities, like us, have on lives and communities. We may not be a team of 1000s, but we support 1000s - and we couldn’t do it without the tireless efforts of our volunteers and the generous donations of individuals and companies. In the last 4 years, we have helped over 1,300 households in London. Support has included everything from food and toiletries, through to electrical items and clothing. This week, we’re proud to pledge alongside NCVO to show our LOVE for small charities: L - Listen and Learn: I will learn what small charities do in my neighbourhood. 0 - Organise: I will get my community involved with small charities. V - Volunteer: I will support small charities with my time, voice and money. E - Engage: I will do a bit more to make my community better. #LoveYourSmallCharity #SmallCharityWeek2024

Today is the International Day of Charity – a fantastic opportunity to recognise the amazing work carried out by charitable organisations around the world, and to make a donation if you can. We know there are lots of charities to choose from, but here’s why we’d love you to choose RAPAID: 👉 A casualty can tragically bleed to death within just three to five minutes, often before the emergency services have time to arrive. By equipping cabs with life-saving bandages, RAPAID empowers ordinary people to flag down the vital resources they need to #stopthebleed within those first, critical minutes following an injury. 👉 RAPAID's focus is on stopping the bleed. Your funding helps us extend our mission far and wide, ensuring that emergency bandage kits are accessible in a variety of public places – from schools and taxis to workplaces and other venues. By supporting RAPAID, you're contributing to building a resilient community where people are equipped to help each other in times of crisis. Together, we’re creating a safer UK, one kit at a time. To donate, visit: https://lnkd.in/e8npec3t #InternationalDayOfCharity #RAPAID #Charity

Someone with children who could use free clothing, has entered the chat: While it's commendable that 18,000 children received a season of clothing, it's equally disheartening that so many are in need—and surely, another 18,000 children could use similar assistance. I've said it before: parents need livable wages, hours that allow them to care for and build relationships with their children, and safe neighborhoods. In the words of Al Bundy, “You can’t have one without the other!” The crime in our community is directly linked to poverty, which stems from a lack of advancement and opportunity for marginalized individuals. This cycle repeats as parents are overworked, underpaid, and stressed in a constant struggle for survival. We need career opportunities as holiday charity. Instead of toy trucks, we need career opportunities for Giving Tuesdays, rather than endless roundtable discussions about recurring problems. A career is the gift that keeps on giving. A promotion that recognizes those of us who have invested time in acquiring new skills and have spent years developing transferable skills can make a world of difference. For many families, ending poverty is just one job offer away.

While we will still be taking emergency applications for unhoused families, the Red Cross, CHOICES, etc. the Charity Newsies general assistance application is now closed. Three years and prior, we were able to keep the clothing assistance application open into December to serve up to 15,000 children. Two years ago, we reached our budgetary goal of 15,000 children right before Thanksgiving. Last year, we reached 15,000 on August 15 before Columbus City Schools even opened. We scrambled and raised money and bought clothes to reach 18,000, which we did on September 18. This year, we opened on July 29 planning to serve 18,000 children. As of 9:38 a.m. morning, August 15, 18 days since opening the application, we have hit our budgeted amount of 18,000 children scheduled to receive clothing or who have already picked up clothing.
