I couldn’t agree more - digital transformation of healthcare promises true data integration which in turn can enable connectivity and data-driven insights. This is where digital innovations hold great promise for helping labs, hospitals and points of care services improve use of limited resources in healthcare for the benefit of clinicians and patients. Every region is a little different in how they approach bringing innovation to their healthcare system as the The Economist impact report which Roche sponsored points out. A global study across 10 large economies, including Australia, Japan, and South Korea was conducted by Economist Impact in partnership with Roche last year. While 9 out of 10 countries had established standards for sharing medical data among domestic healthcare providers, only 50% had set up national-level electronic health record systems. Unless technology is integrated into health systems, we cannot create a seamless experience for patients where their health information is available at their fingertips, and support clinicians effectively.
