Terrific to have our CEO, Olivia Barrie representing the Mornington Peninsula at the Wine Communicators of Australia Inc 2024 Wine Growth Summit in Adelaide on Wednesday, alongside regional leaders - Barossa Australia's Ben Patten and McLaren Vale Grape, Wine & Tourism Association's CEO, Erin Leggat with wine tourism legend, Robin Shaw leading the topic. A few Destination Marketing take aways: - Know your customer, don't try to please everyone and remain true to the region's brand and value proposition. - Visitors choose just 2-3 wineries to visit in a day (used to be 5!), one being a lunch destination. You want to be on their list. Develop relevant, engaging and memorable experiences linked to a well presented brand. - Collaborate with like minded businesses for a powerful, saleable offer which encourages over night stays. - Regional tourism websites are a visitor's first port of call, make sure your presence and offer are current, prominent and high quality. #regionaltourism #wineindustryleaders #collaboration #strongertogether

The global surge in #wine tourism has led to a fascinating paradox: activities considered wine tourism in one country might be forbidden in another!? This makes comparing wine tourism across borders and wine regions a complex challenge. While social media overflows with posts about wine and tourism, I believe there's a pressing need for clarification. From spa treatments overlooking vineyards to gourmet restaurants among the vines, the boundaries are increasingly blurred. How do we define authentic wine tourism experiences in this evolving industry? Explore these questions and more in a recent chapter I co-authored with colleagues Assoc. Prof. Katia Laura Sidali and Claudia Bazzani from University of Verona, in collaboration with the Great Wine Capitals. 'Towards a Clarification of the Definition of Wine Tourism', appears in the latest edition of 'Strategic Management in the Wine Tourism Industry', edited by Javier Martínez Falcó BARTOLOME MARCO LAJARA Eduardo Sánchez García at Palgrave Macmillan. #WineTourism #Viticulture #TravelIndustry #Tourism"

#statistics 🇵🇹 Portugal has been recognized as the best destination for wine lovers! According to a new study by Bounce, Portugal ranked first among the top countries for wine tourism. The country scored 8.66 out of 10 thanks to its 598 wineries, high wine quality ratings, and tasting costs. The average price of a bottle of wine in Portugal is 32% lower than the average in other countries on the list. Portugal also stands out for the number of wine tours — 5.5 tours are offered per 100,000 people. WHERE IS YOUR NEXT WINE EXPERIENCE? Are you thinking about your next wine experience? At the bar or the table? With pairing or all about the wine? With extension in the vineyard or stay on the chalice? 🍷 And why not beyond that? A more or less famous destination is never just wine, beach, or peaks to conquer... Who has lived in this place before our arrival? In the last 50 years or over the previous 500? 🏹 And why here and not elsewhere? I often invite my guests to mind OUR business, i.e., to find out what they have invented over the centuries to survive or to discover the reasons why, in one part of the world, wine is produced in one way rather than another. Randomness? Rarely or only partially... A tourist may seek relaxation or exploration. 🏖 The critical thing about a destination is to offer both independent and complementary, but in any case rewarding, ways. #winetourism #winedestination #visititaly #foodandwinetourism #pdotourism #winesfromitaly #drinkitalians

Beach or mountains? More and more people are opting for a third option: WINE TOURISM 🍷 Today, almost in a summer mood☀️, I’m sharing some figures and the profile of the wine tourist in Spain, revealed by the latest ACEVIN report on this topic. 🌍 Spain currently has the largest vineyard area on the planet and boasts 37 certified wine routes spread across the country. Since 2014, the annual number of visitors to the wineries and museums of Spain’s Wine Routes has not fallen below 2 million. According to the study, in 2022 the 3 routes with the highest number of visitors were: 🥇1. Marco de Jerez: 333,781 visitors. 🥈2. Ribera del Duero: 281,918 visitors. 🥉3. Rioja Alta: 213,974 visitors. Domestic tourism remains predominant at 80%, but international tourism has increased by 5% compared to the previous year, reaching 20%. Among these international visitors, the most successful Spanish wine routes are: 🍇 Gran Canaria: 66.5% 🍇 Alicante: 41.5% 🍇 Penedès: 38.5% In my weekly newsletter, I share content like this but in more detail, so you stay informed about everything that interests you 🙂 You can subscribe here: https://lnkd.in/dEzEeKqq What type of wine tourist are you or which ones do you receive at your winery? Ensuring Global Beverage Quality with Innovative "Bag In Keg" Technology | Delivering "Tank Fresh" Draft Pours for Ultimate Customer Satisfaction
6moSome very good advice which is spot on, and all make logical sense. Know your customer and THEIR wants is always top priority. Not your wants, but theirs! We host many visitors when they come to visit us in Adelaide. Fully agree that 3 wineries is our max in a day/weekend even. And yes, one is always a lunch destination. How do we decide? Friends recommendations, website searches. local guides, google business reviews, facebook groups/ pages. Real reviews by real people. If you don't have them, then work hard to get some, in all the places mentioned.
