Results are in for the James Halliday Australian Chardonnay Challenge and we have been awarded 'Best Chardonnay' in not one, but three of Australia’s most prestigious wine regions: the Yarra Valley, Mornington Peninsula and Tasmania - a feat that has never been achieved before in the competition’s history! The innovation and diversity of the Mornington Peninsula was celebrated this week with outstanding results at National Wine Show of Australia awards in Canberra, where Rollo Crittenden of Crittenden Wines and Luke Lomax of Devil's Baie collected thoroughly deserved trophies from Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. Surprised and delighted to receive the award, Rollo Crittenden said, “To be recognised with a trophy at the National Wine Show is extremely humbling and encouraging that a show of this calibre saw fit to recognise a wine that is quite different from the Australian norm. An enthusiastic bunch of 25 cellar door and business managers gathered last night for the region's first Cellar Circle, generously hosted by Toby and Dianne at Rahona Valley, with a very fitting tasting to start....a sparkling rosé masterclass. The concept has been driven out of feedback from forums and surveys highlighting the opportunity for this often overlooked and highly impactful part of wine businesses to become more involved, so it was exciting to see people step outside of the bubble and connect, hear each other's stories, discuss challenges and have opportunities to learn.
