It seems almost laughable that Apple was first out of the gates years ago with Siri as one of the first voice assistants on the iPhone. In hindsight, it was probably a little too early for the party as we can see that the Generative AI boom that was largely triggered by OpenAI's ChatGPT launch in November 2022 changed the context dramatically. Now that both Google's Gemini and ChatGPT support advanced voice-driven conversational capabilities as seen in recent upgrades, it seems only fitting that Siri will make a quantum leap going forward in terms of its features and functionalities. What should be interesting to see is what kind of on-device Generative AI capabilities Apple will bring to the latest iterations of the iPhone, iPad and Macs given their very privacy-first approach to all things within their vast digital ecosystem. In addition, given the recent launch of Microsoft's possibly game-changing range of Windows Copilot+ PCs which have incredible Generative AI capabilities baked right into the operating system and processor. Also, via the cloud, and on-device, they come with over 40 small language models or SLMs that will be a tough act for Apple to follow, not to mention, eventually surpass. However, one thing is clear, once Apple turns its guns on a new trend or innovation with all their might, they often tend to create truly magical offerings that can go toe-to-toe with the competition, and eventually even redefine an entire industry or sector. Generative AI, in the context of consumer offerings, is a space where things are just getting started and we won't know yet who the clear winners will be for at least another 5 to 10 years. Let the games begin, once again! https://lnkd.in/dEa6WhPD #GenAI #GenerativeAI #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #Apple #iPhone #Mac #iPad #LargeLanguageModels #SmallLanguageModels
