DoD needs to guide and support innovation vectors while enabling the equivalent of “Google 20%” flex and create time and resources to innovate. Experimentation and exploitation, the roots of ambidextrous organizations, requires the hyper-valuable time of subject matter experts ie labor hour & funding allocations in the right RDTE budget categories like BA 6.3/6.4/6.5. DoD needs to grow their in-house organic capabilities to handle the plethora of technological opportunities to gain competitive advantage. NOTHING happens w/o the right people working on the right things to deliver the right results.
Designated Federal Officer - Defense Innovation Board Scaling culture change and innovation forward!
Multiple factors drive or hinder innovation in national security. Innovating with our #Allies and #Partners is #vital to our national security. Lack of #incentives including top cover, risk taking, and unencumbered career growth have hindered innovation and non-traditional tech adoption at the DoD. That is why at Defense Innovation Board we are kicking off two new studies: 1) Optimizing how we Innovate with our Allies and Partners 2) Aligning Incentives to drive faster tech adoption Check out the Terms of Reference here and share your insights below! https://lnkd.in/eQjYDD6h

By focusing on a few key factors, DoD can achieve an acquisition culture that drives creative, flexible, iterative, and responsive approaches-- right now! This month, the Center for a New American Security (CNAS), published their 2024 Integration for Innovation Report from the CNAS Defense Technology Task Force, which identified seven key integrated factors required to achieve a prolific acquisition culture, at both speed and scale. The factors include things like Defined Problem Statements, Iterative Flexible Processes, Acquisition Tradecraft, and Consistent Funding, among others. SDA is proud to be recognized as a success story under several of these factors. The report says, “the Space Development Agency has demonstrated the benefits of acquisition tradecraft using Broad Area Announcements and OTs to build a diverse array of suppliers to develop a disruptive, proliferated space architecture. These examples of creative acquisition approaches…underscore how acquisition tradecraft enables better outcomes.” To learn more about how SDA remains a constructive disruptor and capitalizes on our unique business model to achieve a proliferated architecture rather than an individual capability, read the report summary or download the full report here: https://lnkd.in/gF2cVgjx #sempercitius #marketplace #acquisitiontradecraft #industry #defense

I’m thrilled to have reached 5,000 connections on LinkedIn, and our company, CRG, is steadily growing with around 2,200 followers. While these numbers might seem modest to some, they are significant to me as they represent a powerful network of 5,000 like-minded individuals committed to expanding business networks with a shared vision of making a positive impact. Transitioning from military service to the civilian work environment can be overwhelming. Therefore, is important to strategically align your values and goals with one of many organizations that are part of the DoD Skillbridge program. In my experience, working for a Veteran Owned Small Business allowed me the opportunity to slowly transition to the civilian workforce, while getting the support from veterans that are willing to mentor and guide you throughout the process. Below is a review of my experience with Yellowfin Technology Corp. Review for #YellowfinTechnology · Offered a position after completion? - Yes · Did you feel supported and valued? - Yes · Would you recommend this company? - Yes The reason I selected Yellowfin Technology for my DoD Skillbridge was because it offered an opportunity to change my career. I was an All-Source Intelligence Analyst in the U.S. Army and retired as a First Sergeant after 20 years of service. I decided to become a Program Integrator (Program Management Support) while receiving the necessary training to be competitive for a position within the Department of Defense. The training was structure in a way that allowed me to do computer-based training from home and face-to-face classroom time at a secure facility. I am very thankful that I completed the DoD Skillbridge training requirements and to have accepted a job offer with Yellowfin Technology six days after my retirement date. Please consider this company as you check for opportunities that align with your values and professional goals. Yellowfin Technology has developed an extensive Skillbridge job training and career development programs in the following Career fields to enhance the opportunities for separating Service members: - Program Management Support - Systems Engineering - Cybersecurity Engineering You can find additional information through email at skillbridge@yellowfintech.net or https://lnkd.in/gmzuqqWj #DoDSkillbridge #Skillbridge #Veterans #RateMySkillbridge #MilitaryTransition #VeteranTransition #SoldierForLife #PassionProject #MakeADifference

Huzzah! - At the end of December, DoD issued the final proposed rule for #Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification. - DoD released an updated digital engineering guide. - Our top story brings an update on a pilot rapid acquisition project in Navy's PEO Integrated Warfare Systems. PEO Okana shares thoughts on how fewer program elements and bigger pots of money could make this kind of rapid fielding more possible both in the Navy and across the joint force. - Defense Scoop reports that capabilities have been chosen for the #Replicator initiative--but not yet specific platforms or vendors. - The New York Times points out the numbers of former DoD officials who now work for venture capital firms, creating a more appealing path for adventurous second-career seekers than the traditional transition to working for big defense contractors. - And in ARP news, we bring more research from our latest cohort of graduates.
