The RA/QA Director didn’t get the resources they needed so they left. The company isn’t hiring a replacement straight away, so the team has to pull together. The Regulatory Manager has had to work ridiculous hours, working to tight deadlines, with even fewer resources. So they’ve put in their notice. The rather desperate counteroffer didn’t fly, it's not about the money, they will be leaving in 2 weeks. The Quality Manager and two Regulatory Specialists are now also actively looking. This. Is. All. So. Very. Avoidable. Cost, time, resources, impact on regulatory compliance, delays in product registrations, disruption to key processes, further staff turnover, and the blow to company culture when entire teams start to leave. Losing key people doesn't just disrupt compliance and deadlines—it shakes the foundation of the team and can affect the whole organisation. A high turnover rate creates instability, erodes trust, and undermines the culture that was built over the years. Morale dips, collaboration falters, and remaining employees question their own future. When teams feel undervalued and unsupported, they walk—and often take the best parts of the company’s culture with them. Had leadership listened to and trusted the RA/QA Director's advice about needing extra resources, all of this could have been avoided. Trust your experts, back them when it matters, and you’ll prevent these costly and disruptive outcomes from happening in the first place. #regulatoryaffairs #qualityassurance #medtech

There are other challenges too that make it even more challenging! Such as regulatory pressures, data management and documentation control or lack of, managing risk, cross-functional communication, change management, employee training, company culture, and more! Getting your cross-functional teams to understand you’re not POLICING them, you’re protecting the company!
The Caring Recruiter. I attract the best QARA candidates into your business with simple but successful recruitment.
The Quality Manager job is TOUGH. I’d even say it’s one of the hardest jobs to do in a Life Science business There are so many external factors that make it a challenge Here’s three that were prominent last year: 👉 Toxic environment: Getting other business areas to understand the why behind quality and implement if effectively can be an uphill battle causing the business to pull in different directions and have no set process in place. Not having a business buy in makes it tough for people to stick around. 👉 Limited resources: With an ever changing and developing ISO standard to meet and limited budgets, teams are struggling for resource leaving too little people to carry out the work required to remain compliant. Staff are already stretched and can only do so much. 👉 Burnout: Too much work, too little resource = long hours and taking on above and beyond their workload. I’ve heard numerous times of people reaching their limit and having to leave. A Quality Manager hire can add a ton of value to a business, but they can't do it alone. For a business to be successful the quality mindset needs to be supported across the company, not just within the quality team. Did I miss anything?
