In 1956, over 20,000 women from diverse backgrounds united in Pretoria, bridging gaps of class, race, and culture with a shared vision for equality. Sisterhood and solidarity challenges patriarchal systems, benefiting not just women, but men and children as well. We must harness this collective strength for meaningful change and true equality for all ✊🏼 ✊🏾 ✊🏽 ✊🏻 #happywomensday #womensmonth

south feminisms — expression and internet — movement building and funding — thinking, researching, writing, speaking, co-creating
A group of Resurj members and friends will be at the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (#CSW68) in the next two weeks. 🌺 Along with DIVA for Equality, we’ll be convening our Feminist Community of Care (FemCom) and creating a space to debrief, share knowledge, relax, rest, laugh, cry, laugh-cry, vent, and co-create South-based political analysis. If you’re a younger South feminist, especially a newcomer to the space (but not necessarily), then give us a shout on DMs to join FemCom. 🌺 What is poverty and economic injustice but a series of policy decisions? What is lack of resourcing (financial and otherwise) for feminist movements and social justice organizing but a lack of political will? The #CSW68 priority theme requires a lot of critical conversations, unpacking and expansions and we’ll be joining, speaking in and moderating events to contribute to just that. More info on events in the link. 🌺 We’re bringing a fun surprise for South feminists we meet at CSW so be sure to say hi and nudge us for it! https://lnkd.in/ggSPYXie
