International Day of Rural Women is on October 15. This day is dedicated to the millions of women living in remote, rural places and celebrates the achievements and contributions of these women towards rural development and agriculture. In 2024, the theme for this significant day is “Rural Women Sustaining Nature for Our Collective Future: Building climate resilience, conserving biodiversity, and caring for land towards gender equality and empowerment of women and girls.” Moving Forward: Supporting Rural Women # Equal access to land ownership, financial services, and education. # Legal reforms to eliminate discriminatory practices. # Investment in healthcare, infrastructure, and social services that directly impact rural communities.

One way to foster equality is by enabling girls to make the most out of the opportunities digital spaces offer without being afraid of online threats. A group of Resurj members and friends will be at the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (#CSW68) in the next two weeks. 🌺 Along with DIVA for Equality, we’ll be convening our Feminist Community of Care (FemCom) and creating a space to debrief, share knowledge, relax, rest, laugh, cry, laugh-cry, vent, and co-create South-based political analysis. If you’re a younger South feminist, especially a newcomer to the space (but not necessarily), then give us a shout on DMs to join FemCom. 🌺 What is poverty and economic injustice but a series of policy decisions? What is lack of resourcing (financial and otherwise) for feminist movements and social justice organizing but a lack of political will? A Barrier to Women's Entrepreneurship Unpaid care work is a global issue that disproportionately affects women and hinders their entrepreneurial potential. Launched in 2021 in Mexico City and Paris, Generation Equality signifies a powerful commitment to hasten the pace of progress towards achieving gender equality and empowering women. It does so through tangible and measurable actions, directly contributing to the 2030 Agenda. Generation Equality’s six thematic Action Coalitions and the Women, Peace and Security and Humanitarian Action Compact (WPSHA) are dynamic, multi-stakeholder alliances propelling global mobilization. They are sparking conversations across generations, fostering greater gender-responsive investments, and delivering concrete and transformative results for women and girls.

Generation Equality is a global initiative that's accelerating progress towards Gender Equality for the Sustainable Development Goals. Global Acceleration Plan for Generation Equality focuses on critical issues: 1. Equal pay, 2. Fair sharing of unpaid care work, 3. Eradicating gender-based violence, 4. Access to health care, 5. Increasing women’s political participation.
