Lymphatic filariasis (LF) can be ended through preventative medicine, among other measures. Here, a sign in Archaie, Haiti, encourages individuals to take medicine for LF during the annual mass drug administration. The sign reads, "Let's join hands to end filariasis." WI-HER identified a need for child and youth-friendly education materials to eliminate lymphatic filariasis (LF) in Haiti. To better reach children, WI-HER supported Act to End Neglected Tropical Diseases | East to develop a child-friendly image box that Haiti community influencers continue to share when meeting with various communities. The image box is an interactive educational tool that shares information on LF prevention and the importance of preventative medicine. #WorldMosquitoDay #EndNTDs #YouthDevelopment #CommunityEngagement #HealthEducation

Majorie Lamour of Haiti had never taken preventive medicine for lymphatic filariasis (LF) before, in part because she didn’t trust the information the community drug distributors were sharing about the medicine. Majorie was not alone in these feelings, as Plaine-du-Nord, where she lives in Haiti, had a high prevalence of LF, a neglected tropical disease (NTD) that is transmitted by mosquitoes and causes long-term damage to the lymphatic system. Learn how Majorie went from 'never treated' to a behavior change champion: https://bit.ly/47W6Axz #WorldMosquitoDay #EndNTDs #CommunityEngagement
