Interesting. I find this idea of companies seeing themselves as having a 'culture' absolutely fascinating: A company 'way of life'. Essentially, I would explain it as a business (or economic) construct pertaining to a 'work is everything ethos'. People (as both employees and managers) forgoing their individual freedom to perpetuate a vocational milieu in the belief that corporate identity is more fulfilling than personal recognition. Fascinating! It will be interesting to study more examples of this on LinkedIn to see if my thesis holds.
