Imagine constructing a wind farm in a mountainous and remote region that famously experiences heavy snowfall ❄️ That’s what we have successfully achieved for our client, Invenergy, with the completion of the 63MW Rusutsu wind farm in Hokkaido, Japan. Over the past four years, our dedicated experts from Japan and around the globe have collaborated to provide construction monitoring services and technical expertise for this significant project that can reduce carbon emissions by 64,000 tonnes annually and provide electricity to power approximately 35,000 homes. Our civil and electrical engineering expertise was crucial, especially in the initial years where construction was focused on road works, transmission line installation, and wind turbine foundations. During the installation phase of the wind turbines, our specialists in wind turbine technology meticulously oversaw the transportation of each component from port to the project site. Post-installation, we supervised the inspection of the nacelle interior, with our wind turbine specialists climbing up the turbines to ensure everything was in perfect order. Throughout the project, we provided regular construction monitoring reports to identify and mitigate any potential technical risks related to construction progress, quality, and health & safety. We're proud to have contributed to a project that not only meets local energy needs but also helps to provide more clean #Energy to the wider Japanese community. This project aligns with our values of sustainability and environmental stewardship and embodies our commitment to creating a better world through #Renewables. Reach out to Mihael Plut and Tatsuto Kikuchi to find out more about the project.

HB Central, a 110-year-old building located in Auckland, New Zealand, has received a NZGBC 5 Green Star Design and As Built rating - ka rawe, tau ke (congratulations)🌿👏 The building underwent a full refurbishment and earthquake strengthening to not only preserve its longevity and heritage, but also reduce the project's environmental impact through adaptive reuse. The project has been a true demonstration of the benefits of embedding circularity principles - reimagining spaces and creating a lower impact future by working with the current built landscape. We are proud to have been a part of the project team, fulfilling the role of building services engineer to deliver the mechanical, electrical and hydraulic design, as well as the role of Green Star Accredited Professional to deliver sustainability services and the Green Star certification. Congratulations to Morton Property Group and our project partners, LT McGuinness Ltd., WARREN AND MAHONEY, RCP, Novii and Jensen McArley & Associates. Want to know more about our work on this project? Reach out to Amanda Bryan or Warner Brunton.

How do you design a station to seamlessly integrate into the public realm? Our design approach for Barangaroo Station prioritised customer and community considerations. Nestled within the Barangaroo headland park, the station seamlessly integrates into the public realm with minimal visual impact. Rather than imposing over-station structures, we opted for canopies and lift pods that frame the entrances. Additionally, tunnel ventilation services were harmoniously integrated with urban design and landscaping, eliminating the need for separate service buildings. Sustainability was also a key focus during the design process. Making the most of Barangaroo Station’s proximity to Sydney Harbour, we implemented a high-efficiency thermal plant that utilises sea water cooling. The chilled water system maintains critical systems and supports passenger comfort. By prioritising customer-centric design and sustainability early in the design process, we achieved a significant milestone. Barangaroo detailed design became the first Sydney Metro City & Southwest station to receive a 5 Star Green Star sustainability rating. 📷 Photo credit: Sydney Metro.
