Mike Larson’s Tri-City Exchange food pantry feeds thousands of families each week in the Ogden, Utah, area. Despite losing government grants sustaining the business, Mike persevered, continuing on his mission to support a community in need—which all started with a distressing realization from his wife. Mountain America, Master AutoTech and the FOX 13 Dream Team presented Mike with a check to help the food pantry that has impacted so many families. Hunger Action Month: Keep Pushing Forward As we take action against hunger this month, we’re inspired by a favorite quote from Jay Hawkins, Director of Food Recovery Programs: “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” – Thomas Edison This Hunger Action Month, let’s remember that every effort counts. From rescuing food from retailers to advocating for policy change, every action brings us one step closer to ending hunger in New York State. Together, we can push through challenges and make a real impact. Don’t give up—we’re closer than we think! #hungeractionmonth #togetherwecanendhunger

In Michigan, nearly 12% of people face food insecurity, and many of our community members face barriers to accessing nutritious food. Food insecurity has soared over the past few years, making it more important than ever to create a future where our food system is equitable, sustainable, and equipped to meet southeast Michigan’s needs. At our foundation, we support a number of nonprofit organizations, including Fair Food Network, Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan, Forgotten Harvest, Capuchin Soup Kitchen, and Make Food Not Waste, who are working to increase food access, destigmatized food insecurity, and provide education and resources so that people throughout our region can thrive.
