🌍💪 Let's dive into the Solidarity Economy! An article from Fortunately features Francisco Pérez, a solidarity economy activist, educator, and researcher. In his conversation with Ciera Michele Peters and Mark Hernandez Motaghy, they discuss why artists and the solidarity economy are essential to each other. Pérez, former director of the Center for Popular Economics and now an assistant professor at the University of Utah, emphasizes the power of cooperation in the solidarity economy: "Each of you brings something, but together, you all bring something else that none of you individually could deliver." The solidarity economy thrives on our collective efforts, and Pérez illustrates this beautifully. Very Important - you should read the entire article - we need to recruit millions of people that are too busy working and paying their bills to see what the "Controligarchs" are doing to us. "Who are the World’s Elite Organizations? They are every important organization – those with great influence (and police-state powers) – including all governmental agencies and departments as well as international government organizations like the UN, WHO, and European Union." "They are also all the major “crony” corporations that benefit from close ties to government and non-governmental organizations." "Plus, foundations like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Wellcome Trust, and the Rockefeller Foundation, which have more money than many nations and certainly more ideological commitment to deploy their resources to implement their agendas." "In the last four years, any organization that vociferously supported all the Covid protocols would be examples of “captured” organizations that enthusiastically supported the Current Thing." "But these same organizations also support all the other ascendant political movements, such as the fight against (allegedly) man-made Climate Change, numerous wars or “interventions” to advance “democracy,” central bank digital currency, and ever more mRNA “vaccines.” " "Furthermore, it’s obvious these same organizations support initiatives designed to discredit long-accepted cultural norms in favor of more “progressive” thinking that normalizes gender reversal, race grievances, LGBT+ initiatives, or any reform that advances “diversity, inclusion, or equity.” "The good news is our side – those who still believe in human liberty – vastly outnumbers the group that is clearly aligned against us." "The bad news is the the enemies of freedom – the worshippers of Big Brother – control all of the institutions and organizations in the world that actually matter." "Still, the committed generals and staff officers who are seeking even more global control of the masses are…greatly outnumbered by people who are repulsed by their programs." "My estimate is there must be tens of millions of people who think like I do, people who would like to stop all the goals of the WEF, Davos, and WHO crowd." "Substack has more than 35 million subscribers, probably 20 percent of whom are searching for content they know they won’t find in, say, the New York Times or CBS News. That would be a “market” of 7 million freedom-supporting citizens." "To help keep this middle group indifferent or on their side, the Deep State concocted the concepts of disinformation and misinformation to smear or throttle the influence of those on our side." "If and when the masses realize who’s been producing the real disinformation, freedom might pull an upset victory."
On one side, we have the 200,000 or so leaders of thousands of important captured organizations. On the other side, we have 10 to 20 million citizens who’ve found each other in the alternative media. ~Bill Rice The Numbers Favor Our Side https://lnkd.in/eDYsDMuU

Here is another part of what is happening. I see more and more trends like this, and none of them predict a happy unified country of people educated to think rationally on the basis of facts. We need to start talking about this reality that is emerging before it overwhelms us.

I'm very excited to facilitate this important Folio Conversation with Emma Fletcher (CoCeo, democracyco). Why so excited? Folio Conversations bring diverse citizens together — from different sectors, disciplines, occupations and backgrounds — to explore the big issues of our times in an intimate and trusted setting. It's a unique space to listen, contribute, and challenge ourselves and each other as citizens to meaningfully engage with issues of common concern. Online Folio Conversations are not like your normal webinar or panel discussion. We prioritise interactive dialogue between our Conversation Leader and all attendees, and follow with the Chatham House Rule to promote open, honest and inclusive dialogue. These small group conversations provide unparalleled access to incredible thinkers and doers like Emma, who is pushing the envelope of deliberative democracy and citizen engagement. Seats are limited to ensure that everyone can participate. You can register your seat on our website: https://lnkd.in/g8dDWh8f. Tickets are free for Folio members | $20 for guests. If you're interested in connecting with diverse citizens and joining more conversations this year, I recommend considering Folio membership. It's great value and helps shape the future direction of this unique community. #conversationsthatmatter #dialogue #democracy #participation #citizens

Ideas Letter 12 is out! https://lnkd.in/e3nTDJZN 4 articles (more if you count the great response to Civil Society’s Proper Place) and three podcasts with provocative and stimulating theories about civil society’s power, race and identity (Barbara Jean Fields says race is not an identity), philanthropy, degrowth, the metaperson etc. Some thoughts/theories applicable to life right now... Sahlin’s detection of “a clear and simple law of revolution”: that it is the rulers, not the revolutionaries, who undermine a society’s culture and principles of government. “It is from deep traditional values that the opposition draws its outrage—and in defense of them, takes to the streets.” Protest is natural and the ability to do so is central to any healthy society regardless of what ideological labels we want to slap on systems of governance. Opposition is vital…and Erisco’s hounding of a consumer of one of its products is a threat to spirit of dissent and critique. Amy Schiller, author of Price of Humanity: How Philanthropy Went Wrong, said in the podcast people need to be paid a giving wage not a living wage…as one of her recommendations for the future of philanthropy. I cannot argue with paying workers more and closing astronomical wage disparities but cannot help thinking of the millions who are not waiting for a giving wage to give what they can. Looking forward to reading and reviewing the book.

It matters today, tomorrow and every day after that.
What we do matters. In our businesses, in our communities, in our homes. A good reminder for today.
