The way we originally interacted with computers was for the computer’s sake. Punch cards, then clickity clackity keyboards. But Steve Jobs recognized the tipping point of GUIs and a mouse being the way computers showed humans a mush easier way to see computing complexity, but still just as a means to communicate with the computer for the computer’s sake. This limited human potential to leverage computing for the individual human’s sake. The convergence of the speed of Generative AI, commoditization of AI processing power, and the emergence of realism of bidirectional Voice and Visual interactivity with computers is the next tipping point in human-computer-potential.
