Great call today at Startup 2 Standup exploring what the new Labour government, led by Sir Keir Starmer, can do to support entrepreneurship in the UK. Here’s some of our key points that were discussed: 🔵 Government Support for SMEs We discussed the need to raise awareness of existing support like the SME Charter and the difficulties founders face accessing public sector contracts. 🔵 Creating a Startup Hub Inspired by Sydney’s government-backed startup hub, we proposed exploring a similar initiative in London, providing free workspaces and resources to foster innovation. 🔵 Tax & Funding Concerns #Entrepreneurs are concerned about possible #CapitalGainsTax increases. We also emphasised the importance of #EIS and #SEIS schemes as long-term investments in #startups. 🔵 Promoting Entrepreneurship We talked about the need to shift public perceptions around entrepreneurship and encourage prominent figures to champion the cause, similar to how Joe Wicks or Jamie Oliver have done in their industries. Exciting times ahead as we continue building a thriving ecosystem for #founders.
