There are definite positives with the extension of the PCN DES contract although not all questions from the previous contract have been answered. Whilst there is increased flexibility offered under the ARRS, PCNs need to be careful of creating sticking VAT costs in how they structure their supplies between practices. Too often we see VAT overlooked in the additional schedules to the PCN DES and with supplies of staff being one of the biggest costs to practices, VAT consequences should be taken into account at an early stage when considering what wording to include. We have a number of specialists at PKF-Francis Clark Chartered accountants & business advisers who would be happy to help consider how to get the best out of your PCN. #healthcare #PCNs #VAT #NHS
News for Primary Care Networks The NHS has just announced an extension of the current primary care network (PCN) contract up to 31 March 2025, including some key changes. Samuel Trevena, manager within PKF Francis Clark’s specialist medical team, provides insight into these updates. The focus of those changes is to: • Reduce the cash flow burden on practices • Improve staff flexibility within PCNs • Streamline the PCN DES requirements and increasing autonomy These are positive signs, but there is still uncertainty around what the future contract might look like. 👉 Read the full article here: https://ow.ly/G1UH50RE8Ku #PrimaryCareNetwork #NHScontract #medicalaccountant

The NHS faces an unprecedented demand for elective care and substantial pressure on its finances. We are here to support these two critical issues and work in partnership with providers and ICBs to deliver improvements. Focusing on the ‘Recover’ element of our three-phased RST approach, we showcase the patient-centred results from delivering high impact interventions. Working hand-in-hand with NHS Trusts, we have enabled clinical teams to meet performance targets, eliminate long waiters and successfully reduce patient backlogs within their current establishment and budget. This short brief outlines how we develop and deliver interventions, support teams in elective recovery, sustaining their services and transforming the way in which they deliver care. #EYHealthUK #ElectiveRecovery #NHS Ashwin Thurairaj Rosie Morgan Charles Byrne Lucy Pittaway Ed Pennington Rebecca Norman-Kime Claire Crowley

Paramedic I Professor I Vice Chancellor's Strategic Fellow I Non-Executive Director I Former Health and Emergency Services CEO
🚑 The Association of Ambulance Chief Executives, NHS Providers and NHS Confederation have released a report outlining a new vision for NHS ambulance services. This transformational vision is also applicable to other EMS and ambulance systems worldwide, including Australia! The report highlights the strategic role ambulance services can play in coordinating and delivering urgent and emergency care. By investing in the workforce, infrastructure, and digital innovation, ambulance services can address inefficiencies and align with NHS England's recovery plans. The proposed model emphasises high-quality, integrated care that keeps patients out of the hospital when unnecessary and focuses on prevention and reducing health inequalities. For a detailed insight into the future of urgent and emergency care provision and the pivotal role of ambulance services, read the full report here: https://lnkd.in/gY4GXWpU #NHS #AmbulanceServices #EmergencyCare #HealthcareInnovation #PatientCare

Important option to consider.
It was great to contribute to this Mail on Sunday article on the importance of patients being aware of their right to choose where they receive their #NHS treatment, including in the independent sector. With #NHS waiting lists at record highs, it's vital that patients are fully aware of their all choices - our recent research has found that NHS patients on average can cut three months off their waiting time by travelling just 25 minutes to an alternative provider. As our CEO David Hare MBE makes clear in the article, patients should be able to discuss all their treatment options in full with their GPs, particularly given that our research has shown that tens of 1000s of appointments made available by the private sector every month for NHS care are not being used. There's also a brilliant patient story from Janet who received her NHS hip operation at Practice Plus Group in Southampton and says "I really don't think enough people realise that they have a legal right to choose where to have their NHS treatment – and that they can find shorter waits." Kingsgate has now been helping the NHS to change and improve for almost 20 years. Our Chair @Stve Swayne was the one of the very first financial recovery specialists from the private sector to be asked by the then Labour Government to support the NHS. Since then, we’ve supported dozens of healthcare organisations. And while the circumstances always vary, we’re proud to have delivered lasting results. Ultimately, it’s about enabling Trusts and local systems to be more efficient. When done well, this improves services and patient outcomes too – the definition of higher-value. #NHS #productivity #transformation
