Writers do one thing. We write. I don't understand why companies expect a writer to have a "solid understanding of graphic design to create visually appealing content" on top of being able to write briefs, social media posts, or long-form content. That's a graphic designer's or layout artist's job. I also don't understand why scheduling uploads and uploading content is the writer's job, aside from writing and creating graphics and layouts. That's what a content manager does. It's understandable if you write, do graphic design, and manage content if you're maintaining a personal blog, but... If you claim to be a "world-class company/organization with gold-standard employees and tier-one clients," why would you hire just ONE person to do three people's work?

Looking for content writers for my portfolio Not actually hiring, but soon enough designers might need to. Hiring managers today seem more interested in your storytelling skills than your design expertise. It's almost as if you need to write a novel about your work just to get noticed, overshadowing the design and its impact. While storytelling has its place, the obsession with long-form case studies is getting out of hand. Designers aren't writers by trade, and expecting them to craft extensive essays can be daunting and unfair. This trend creates a bias where good storytellers might be seen as better designers, regardless of their genuine skills. With the recent AI writing trend, it's easy to churn out looong content without much design context. While a well-written case study provides insight, the design itself should be the star. The focus should be on showcasing your best work and its real impact. What do you think? #design #portfolio #UXDesign #designcasestudies #designthinking #productdesign #designjobs #UIDesign

Please Recruiters learn to differentiate between Creative Roles. It’s high time. Graphic Designer, Content Writer, Copywriter, and Video Editor these are very similar yet very different roles. A person can be a Creative Specialist and Director who looks after all the creative doings of the firm on social media and the website. Still, he/she is not a Copywriter, Content Writer, or Graphic Designer. Knowing different skills and requirements of a job role are different. Don’t be confused. Content Writers can suggest creative ideas according to the content he/she is writing but that does not make them Video editors or Graphic designers. If a Job role requires a person to multi-task then please mention it in the JD itself with better pay. You can’t pay 20 for a job that requires a pay of at least 40-50. You can either sacrifice the Quality of the Content produced by a demotivated writer (multi-tasker for you) or Pay more for more work. Instead of hiring Content Writer hire a Content Specialist, Analyst, Creative Specialist, or even a Creative Consultant. #recruiters #hr #employers #RantOver #jobroles #opportunities #contentwriter #creator #creative #writing #creativecontentwriter #writer #designer #creativespecialist #creativedesigner #confusion #consultant #branding #advertising #thoughtprovoking #provoking #graphicdesigner #uiux #editor #videoeditor

Below is an example of an extremely poor job description. The words you write throughout your entire recruitment process are vital. The way you speak to candidates is a direct reflection of your company. A job description is the first point of contact people have with your brand. This is your chance to entice the right people. Here's what's wrong with the bullet points in the job description below: ❌ Grammatical errors ❌ Repetition of the word 'outstanding' ❌ Asking writers to be designers ❌ Doesn't make much sense ❌ Isn't specific (asks for a degree with outstanding results; what does that even mean?) ❌ No brand personality ❌ Doesn't make the job sound exciting JOB DESCRIPTION BULLET POINTS - Copywrite, write, edit and proofread content for our magazines - Construct the magazines including photos, design and artwork (with help from our Graphic Designer) Moreover, you’re humble and you share our passion for building and executing new businesses. -Have acquired a bachelor’s degree with outstanding results preferably within journalism, communications, marketing, English, or related field - Have +5 years of work experience with outstanding performance from a magazine or media company - Have an UK work permit - Possess outstanding writing, editing and creative skills Can you spot any more errors or issues? Much love, The Content Wolf 🐺

I’ve applied for countless writing jobs with descriptions that concern me. Too often, these roles stretch beyond content writing, demanding skills from entirely different fields. 😣 Writers are expected to be SEO experts, graphic designers, strategists, social media managers, editors, and much more, all at once. While adaptability is essential, expecting one person to do 100% is absurd. 😤 Most writers are ready to learn, but keeping content writing focused is crucial for timely and quality delivery. Creating engaging, relevant content requires focus and dedication, which gets diluted with extra responsibilities. Let’s value the power of words and the impact of an engaging narrative. When writers collaborate with teams of SEO experts, designers, social media managers, and developers. Only then we can put together content that truly connects. Let’s grow together by helping each other. 🌱 #creativewriting #writerscommunity #future #innovation
