Your employees have brains and ideas also! #IanTheHRPro Speaking with clients, I find that employers don't seem to value the brains and ideas of paid employees. Why pay someone if you're not capitalizing on the added brain power? We hire people to do a job or set of tasks. Then we forget about them and we take on the assumption that they can't possibly know anything else or grow into different roles. What do you think of having a monthly or quarterly team meeting that includes all employees to brainstorm ideas? You must include the janitor, receptionist, file clerk, mail clerk, labourer, security, intern, and any employee you don't usually consider part of the "team."

I’m looking for an executive assistant. Part-time to start but will likely ramp up to full-time before long. 100% virtual. The role is a bit unstructured, but here’s my stab at a description. • You’ll work directly with me, a lawyer and lobbyist running my own growing firm based in Fort Worth, but with activities around the state. • The right person is proactive, responsive, and discreet. You will help bring order to my life and work by helping with much of the day-to-day needs of the firm. • You’re excited to engage not only in administrative tasks, but also in basic operations, marketing, financial, and occasional personal tasks. You don’t have a “that’s not my job” mentality. • You may not be the most experienced person in the world, but you’re willing to learn. If there’s one thing you do better than anyone, it’s Microsoft Word. If you’ve worked for a lawyer before, that helps, but it’s not necessary. • You’re coachable and courteous.
