Strategic Financial Leader | Driving Business Growth, Capital Optimization, & Digital Transformation | Expertise in Financial Strategies | Corporate Finance, and Risk Management
Driving Success: How Financial Leaders Can Support CEOs in Acquisitions, Divestments, and Turnarounds? In the dynamic world of medium to large companies, the road to success often involves bold moves like acquisitions, divestments, and turnaround strategies. As a financial leader, one of the most impactful roles I’ve played is supporting the CEO in these critical decisions. Here’s what I’ve learned about making these strategies work: Deep Financial Analysis for Informed Decisions: When it comes to acquisitions or divestments, numbers don’t lie. I’ve found that rigorous financial analysis is key. By diving deep into financials—whether it’s evaluating a potential acquisition target’s balance sheet or determining the value of a divestment—we can ensure that every move is backed by solid data. This analytical approach helps mitigate risks and identify opportunities that align with the company’s long-term goals. $ Crafting a Compelling Business Case: For any strategic decision, the business case must be compelling. I work closely with the CEO/Executive Decision Makers to craft narratives that not only highlight the financial benefits but also align with the company’s broader strategic vision. Whether we’re pitching an acquisition to the board or justifying a divestment, a well-rounded business case is crucial for securing buy-in from stakeholders. $ Supporting Turnaround Initiatives with Financial Expertise: Turnaround strategies often require tough decisions, and that’s where financial leaders step in. It’s about finding the financial levers that can be pulled to quickly improve cash flow and profitability. $ Maintaining Strategic Agility: The business landscape is constantly shifting, and what seems like a good move today might need re-evaluation tomorrow. I’ve learned the importance of maintaining strategic agility. $ Collaborative Leadership: These high-stakes strategies require close collaboration across the leadership team. I’ve always emphasized the importance of aligning finance with operations, marketing, and HR to ensure that our strategies are comprehensive and executable. A united leadership front is essential for successful execution. $ The Latest Trend: In today’s environment, digital transformation and sustainability are increasingly influencing acquisition and divestment decisions. Companies are looking for synergies in technology and sustainability to future-proof their business models. As financial leaders, we need to factor these elements into our strategic considerations. How do you support your CEO in driving successful acquisitions, divestments, and turnaround strategies? Share your insights. #LeadershipInFinance #BusinessAcquisition #DivestmentStrategy #TurnaroundStrategy #CEOLeadership #FinancialStrategy

The evolving role of the #CFO is reshaping recruitment, particularly within private equity-backed companies. Three key trends are influencing this shift: the demand for value-creation-focused CFOs, tech-savvy leaders, and #M&A specialists. Companies now prioritize CFOs who can drive long-term operational improvements, embrace technology to enhance efficiency, and manage complex mergers and acquisitions. However, the expectation of a “do-it-all” CFO is becoming less realistic, with businesses instead focusing on hiring leaders who can collaborate across departments and leverage specialized expertise to meet critical organizational needs. https://lnkd.in/eAhjcc2J #cfosquad CFO Squad LLC

Growth Focused Transformational Executive | Mergers & Acquisitions ~ Operational Excellence ~ Scale ~ Private Equity ~ Honoring people and culture
Accelerating growth through acquisitions can be VERY rewarding. It can also be VERY detrimental, not only to your current business but also to the gem of a business you just acquired. What is your Why, what are your expectations, and what are you going to focus on? Be brutally honest here as this will drive actions and behaviors! If your focus is on synergies, how will this be done without damaging the company you just acquired? If your focus is on expanding your culture, will you cause too much disruption and upheaval turning the gem into a rock? Are you expecting your current team to handle the lift of integrating data, financials, operations, accounting, marketing, HR, etc? How will this impact them and their (your) current deliverables? You get the picture. There is a LOT that goes into acquisitions and the resulting integrations. Make sure your motives are honest (no "good" or "bad" here), make sure you have the right team with proper expectations and alignment, and then be open to feedback and learning.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR IN ACQUISITIONS 1. Do we keep the clients? → Higher Net Revenue Retention (NRR), better valuation 2. Who's gonna run it after we buy? → Got a management team or will we need to hire a CEO? 3. Is the customer acquisition all done through a departing person? → Looking for diversified pipe sources 4. Is this a 'real brand'? → We want to see a brand that people would miss if it was gone I invest personally, and I coinvest alongside corporate buyers and PE firms 🙏 Let me know if this might be a fit for you.

Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) can trigger a wave of employee anxieties: job security, cultural clashes, and unclear leadership. M&A is a hot topic that comes up time and again, and one where it’s so easy to get things wrong, but as an internal communicator, you can calm the chaos with effective communication. Here are 3 key tips: 1️⃣ Address job security early - be upfront about potential changes, but don't make promises you can't keep. 2️⃣ Demystify the new culture - explain how the leadership changes will impact work and encourage open communication to bridge cultural gaps. 3️⃣ Slow down & align messages - leaders might be excited, but employees need time to adjust, so ensure that everyone is on the same page before communicating externally. Navigating mergers and acquisitions is one of the biggest challenges internal communications professionals may face in their career. Hopefully these tips will give you a starting point to prevent chaos. #CommunicationStrategy #InternalComms #MergersAndAcquisitions
