QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment) discusses the importance of maintaining quality, health, safety, and the environment in various industrial activities. This includes understanding safety standards, best practices in risk management, compliance with environmental regulations, and implementing quality management systems to improve company efficiency and sustainability. This Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) activity is carried out using an accurate project-based learning method, including individual and team learning, to prepare the final project.

At Liquin, we regularly train our people in order to continuously improve safety at our facilities. Yesterday we organized our first Safety Health and Environment Day at our Botlek terminal 🎉. Some 190 people, including employees, contractors and clients, came together for a programme of activities and workshops: ☑ An escape box exercise designed to teach the right safety precautions. ☑ A session aimed at ensuring people follow the correct procedure during lifting operations. Not only in theory but also by practicing.  ☑ Safety fundamentals relating to keeping a terminal leakproof. After this, participants had a choice of two workshops: One on the right way to address people to give them a compliment or point out undesirable actions or behavior. And another on learning to recognise personal blind spots so you don't miss important information or signals. All these activities included a competitive element, which resulted in very enthusiastic participants!

We don't hear much these days about 'on the job, training and yet it is so important. When we expect our team members to pass on their skills to new starters it's neither appropriate nor effective to use the 'sitting with Nellie' approach instead of providing 'on the job' trainer skills training. It has been my privilege to train and assess 'on the job' trainers in numerous organisations including training for Vopak International, Warburtons, Highways Industry, Tetley Tea, Serco International, Tradebe, and presently Berkshire Labels.
