This is what HCC Coleman College for Health Sciences is about: collaboration, exploration, respect for each other, and fun. Health science divisions need to build up interprofessional activities among all our professions. Starting these activities from the onset of our students’ training, will allow for students to respect each others chosen profession and understand that they WILL work together once out in the field. Because ultimately, the end goal is positive patient outcomes. We achieve this by working together as a collaborative healthcare team. We need to break silos between our occupations and build bridges instead. Thanks to Dr. Elizabeth Ho for starting this much-needed initiative. These efforts to train the next generation of healthcare professionals to work as a team are paving the way for a bright future. #arrt #txsrt #radiography #radiology #experiences #RADexperiences #asrt #radtech #radiographer #radiologictechnology #radiologic #BeRad #BeSeenASRT #ColemanCollege #HoustonCommunityCollege #Moments #JRCERT #CultureBuilds #healthcare #interprofessional #fun #healthcarecommunity #breaksilosbuildbridges #healthcareprofessionals #healthscience #healthsciencecollege #healthsciencescolleges #healthsciencedivision #healthscienceinitiatives

The School of Public Health is proud to have 27 faculty and students attending and delivering their presentations including both, oral and poster formats at the American Public Health Association (APHA) 2024 Annual Meeting & Expo. We are incredibly proud of our presenters and wish them the best as they represent The University of Memphis School of Public Health. Dr. Ashish Joshi, PhD,MBBS,MPH will be a panelist on the topic: 'Messaging and Explaining Public Health in a Climate of Misinformation and Disinformation.' In a rapidly changing socio-economic and geopolitical environment that demands a new way of thinking about public health within a local, national, and global context, public health education shouldn't just be about research and garnering knowledge. We need to translate those programs into impactful solutions versus just publishing papers and books and we need practical solutions in order to instill a greater community impact. Learn how the University of Memphis School of Public Health is redefining public health. We wish you much success today, Dr. Joshi! #publichealth #publichealthmatters #sphcares #UNAI

Great lecture at Warwick Medical School on the science of lay responder CPR. My takeaways: 👉 80% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen in the home - you are much more likely to be applying your CPR skills to a family member or friend than to a stranger. 👉 Bystanders performing CPR requires a lot more than training in the techniques - cultural norms, feelings of self-efficacy, and the ability to recognise cardiac arrest all come into play. 👉 Aftercare for bystanders who have delivered CPR is important, feelings of "what just happened?" are normal even for those with training.
👉Today we were delighted to welcome Professor Katie Dainty to deliver a Dean's Distinguished Lecture on 'When You Need to Think Differently about Your Science: The Example of Lay Responder CPR Rates' 👉Using her qualitative work on bystander CPR and out of hospital cardiac arrest as an example, Katie discussed the importance of thinking differently to solve complex problems in health care. 👉Professor Dainty is a qualitative social scientist and Research Chair in Patient-Centred Outcomes at North York General Hospital. In addition to her appointment at NYGH, she is an Associate Professor and Director of the Health Systems Research Graduate Training Program in the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME) at the University of Toronto. 👉She has expertise in the areas of patient and family experience, implementation science, patient-centred outcome measures, and quality improvement in health care. Her core program of research focuses on using qualitative and co-design methods to unpack long-held assumptions about bystander experience and survivorship following sudden cardiac arrest.
