Have you heard about the NOWWHS? The Northwestern Ontario Workplace & Worker Health Study (NOWWHS) is a local research project looking to better understand the mental and physical health of workers in our region over time. We are looking for 6,000 research participants to take part in the largest cohort study to ever be conducted in Northwestern Ontario. Why participate? For every 100 people who take our survey, we are giving away $500, for a total of $30,000 in incentives! Workplaces with over 20 participants can also receive a customized workplace report. Ultimately, the NOWWHS cohort study could have a big impact on the mental and physical health of workplaces and workers in our region. Getting involved is easy; just visit www.workinghealth.ca to learn more, sign up your workplace or volunteer as an individual. #research #Northwesternontario #workplacementalhealth

📣 Are you an Advocate for Policy Change? 📣 Advocates and leaders can contribute to larger systemic change by advocating for policies that address health disparities, promote inclusivity, and reduce barriers to equitable healthcare. How? Through engaging in conversations with policymakers, joining advocacy groups, and use of collective voices to drive positive policy changes (reference: WCI DEIB Whitepaper). Today we would like to recognise the National Academy of Medicine collaborative and it’s founding partners for advocating for policy and system change. In their pursuit of improving the wellbeing of the health workforce, they established the National Health Workforce Well-Being (HWWB) Day. 📣 This week on March 18 the first HWWB Day was held 📣 Burnout continues to impact the health workforce and HWWB aims to give awareness to tangible steps in reducing this wellbeing impact. HWWB is also a day to collaborate and learn from each other to develop systems that support wellbeing in the workforce and therefore the impact these workers can have on their communities. Are you an advocate for policy change and looking to engage in continuous learning? Please visit the NAM website to learn more about the change they are creating. https://lnkd.in/gke9YYQf #wellnesscoaching #changemakers

Global Public health /Organizational leadership and development/Health systems strengthening and Policy/ Project Director/ Country Team Lead
Today marks the end of Global Health Worker Week 2024 ( April 1-7) that had a very reflective theme: SAFE AND SUPPORTED: INVEST IN HEALTH WORKERS. The discussions have mostly focused on the health worker support geared towards improving quality of care/ patient hospital experience through training / continuous professional development, improving the patient- health worker ratios by committing resources to recruitment. While there is appreciation that positive patient outcome is the ultimate goal, there is need to also ask the big question of ' WHO CARES FOR THE CARER'. The health worker mental health and wellbeing is also critical, recognizing that health service delivery is a high pressure/stress job with alot at stake: patient outcome, expectations from the friends and relatives of the patient and individual expectation to sufficiently respond to the patient needs. Health workers need employer support, understanding of the individual sacrifices that they make and a social support system in the communities they serve.

How can positive wellbeing increase profits? How much have you budgeted for recruitment costs? Are you on target? Rather than accepting staff will leave there is another option. Similarly look at you sickness rates and just as importantly presenteeism? Is there more that could be done to increase productivity? Are there areas of your business underperforming? All these examples could be signs of a lack of engagement from staff. You do not need to accept them as a cost of doing business. Good governance is much more than compliance. It is about looking at how you do businesses and how you can do it better. It is about communication, addressing risks, reputation and why you are in business to start with. Staff wellbeing is a huge issue for employers and its importance is ever increasing, especially in today's competitive market. We know much more about stress and how it adversely affects people yet all too few are using this knowledge to increase performance. Caring for your staff is all about good business, it needn't be expensive and Deloittes calculated that there is a £5.30 return for every £1.00 invested. Please contact us if you would like to learn more about wellbeing and how it can benefit your bottom line. #wellbeing #governance #esg https://lnkd.in/edBSrp9Q

Following the tragic news of the death of Vanessa Ford, the legal profession is addressing the toxic culture that is all too prevalent. As can be seen https://lnkd.in/eW8WDbmm the SRA is now investigating toxic workplaces which is only to be welcomed and long overdue. Wellbeing in the workplace is not a nice to have but an absolute necessity. Businesses that ignore wellbeing and their staff will struggle with profits adversely impacted. We have recently launched a wellbeing accreditation scheme to address wellbeing in the workplace and assist those wishing to assist their staff. The scheme is designed for each organisation to be ensure the best return for the investment in staff wellbeing. The scheme is deigned for the Isle of Man, but we have a wealth of experience in the legal sector and can adapt the scheme for the legal profession: https://lnkd.in/edBSrp9Q. Please contact us if you would like to learn more about the scheme or wellbeing in the workplace. #Governance #ESG #Social #wellbeing #compliance

🌍 Exciting news from Scotland! . Following a comprehensive review, Scotland's National Outcomes are now before the Scottish Parliament. . While setting out an aspirational vision for Scotland's future, it’s really important to recognise they’re still couched in old economic thinking. It’s this same current economic model which has led to many global crises. It’s clear we need a transformative approach to truly realise Scotland's potential. . 💡 As Wellbeing Economy Alliance Scotland (WEAll) highlight, the National Outcomes set out a powerful vision for Scotland, one well worth striving for. However, despite the great words, so much more needs to be done to deliver these aspirations. They need to be translated into policies and actions, which needs rethinking our economic framework. . We need an economy that works in the service of people and planet, not the other way round. . #Scotland #Sustainability #EconomicReform #SocialImpact
The Scottish Government has submitted the revised National Outcomes to the Scottish Parliament for review. They include: ✅ National Outcome on Care ✅ Focus on improving wellbeing ❌ Outdated economic design ❌ Lack of engagement with people Read our full response: bit.ly/4bjpSPn
