Exciting news! We're proud to announce our partnership with the Canadian Safe Boating Council (CSBC) as the Presenting Sponsor for their annual symposium, "Many Partners, One Goal," in Whistler, BC, from October 1-3. Partnering with the Canadian Safe Boating Council is a natural fit for us, aligning perfectly with our mission to protect life on the water. Mustang Survival has long supported CSBC, and we're honoured to deepen our commitment to their mission. Fact #5 for National Safe Boating Week: Search Lights on Towboats Riverview Boat Store & Tug Service Capt Jeremy Putman captured a mesmerizing moment this morning in Thompson, IL! Behold Marquette Transportation Company, LLC 's M/V ANGELA K, her searchlight piercing through the dawn as she approaches Lock and Dam 13. Search Lights on Towboats are used for: 1. Navigating in Low Visibility: Essential for safe travel in fog, rain, or at night. 2. Spotting Hazards: Helps identify debris, shallow areas, or other vessels. 3. Maneuvering: Provides crucial light for docking and navigating tight spaces. 4. Emergencies: Vital for locating and addressing issues like a person overboard. For Recreational Boaters: 1. Stay Visible: Keep your boat well-lit. 2. Maintain Distance: Give towboats plenty of space. 3. Understand the Lights: Towboats use search lights for safety and may not see you if you’re not well-lit. 4. Monitor VHF Channels:** Stay updated on commercial traffic. Day 2: National Safe Boating Week Tip for Pleasure Craft Boaters Around Commercial Navigation As motorboat and pleasure craft season reaches its peak, mariners must stay vigilant and prepare for the unexpected. Situational awareness is crucial, as poor judgment or inattention can cause a motorboat to get too close to a tow, lose power, or face other issues, potentially leading to a dangerous situation where the boat may go under the tow of barges. Shown here is Amherst Madison's M/V CAPT. ED HARRIS, traveling upbound on the Kanawha River with six empty barges. This area, known as the Winfield Pool, passes through St. Albans, Nitro, and the Charleston City Front, which are popular spots for pleasure craft, especially on weekends during the summer. To enhance safety, the CAPT. ED HARRIS has deployed "Last Chance Lines" draped over the head of its two strings of empty barges. These lines serve as a last-resort lifeline for individuals in a pleasure craft that may go under the tow. They provide a critical opportunity for someone to grab on and avoid going under with their boat. This safety measure has proven effective in the past and is an important strategy to potentially save lives. #NationalSafeBoatingWeek #LastChanceLines

Campground Etiquette The unwritten rules of camping can vary greatly between campers. When I ask these kinds of questions, the majority of people responding usually have the same ideas of what is most important to keep in mind on the campsite, but some have very different opinions. Either way, I think it's helpful to discuss because there are some campers that don't even know these "rules" are a thing! Here are the top answers I got in response to this video. What would you add to this list? 1. Don't cut through campsites. 2. Don't let your dogs bark. 3. Keep your music turned down/honor quiet time. 4. Don't leave trash in the fire ring/on your site. 5. Be kind, friendly and helpful. *Bonus Response* 6. Turn off your outside RV lights at night.

Lessons from a 2 week camping trip (post 8 of 8): Find your joy. This trip is a LOT. The event is technically a city for the 2 weeks because of its size (this year, 9,200+ attendees). There's so much to do and the temptation is to jam-pack the schedule with All of the Things! It's entirely possible to start the day with a class at 8 a.m. and not return to your own camp until after the parties wind down in the wee hours of the morning. Every day. That way leads to madness and burnout. Instead, I do the activities that bring me the most fulfillment: * I drive a golf cart as part of the Watch safety patrol (I'm on a caaaht) * I teach a class some years * I cook bacon & eggs for our kitchen meal plan every day Are these things work? Yes, of course. It's work I enjoy doing on behalf of others, which makes all the difference. First camp invests in Mora and Orsa With shows at Moraparken, children’s playland with indoor mini golf and new ticket packages with nearby amusement parks, First Camp is investing heavily in its camping facilities in Mora kommun and Orsa Kommun. - I really look forward to this year’s summer season, says Johan Söör, CEO of First Camp. - It will be the first full year now with the glamping tents in Mora. It was a messy start with last summer's rainy weather, so this is the first real summer. We also have glamping tents down by the lake in Orsa, says Johan. First camp owns seven facilities in Dalarna out of a total of 72 in the Nordics. Dalarna is by far their largest market, making up a quarter of the entire turnover. This means that Mora and Orsa are important facilities for the group. - It is by far our largest and most important region, so I spend a lot of time on the facilities here, says Johan. First camp bought both facilities in Mora and Orsa at the end of the pandemic and has seen a rapid recovery where the numbers are back to the same levels as before Corona. Now, for the first time, they are investing in attracting visitors with different shows at Moraparken. - It is a big investment for us. Ideally, it should suit both the locals and guests, says Johan. In addition to the shows, the big investment in Orsa is the Yessiland playland. It was inaugurated last year and is the first of its kind within the group. - It is an investment of several million SEK. There is also an indoor course for mini golf, since the weather is not always the best. Orsa is the first facility with Yessiland and it is open all year round. As far as I know, it is the only camping site in Sweden with a large indoor playland, says Johan. What characterizes Mora and Orsa is that there are plenty of activities, and all year round, says Johan. Starting this summer, packages will also be introduced where overnight guest at First Camp can get a cheaper price on tickets to other popular tourist attractions in Dalarna, Tomteland AB and Leksand Sommarland. - What's great about Dalarna is that it's an attractive destination both in summer and winter, concludes Johan Söör. #investindalarna #visitdalarna https://bit.ly/4cGWLqW

As the weather warms up and boating season prepares to kick off, it's crucial to prioritize cleaning your dock. The transition to warmer temperatures invites more frequent use of waterfront areas, making it essential to ensure your dock is in top condition. Cleaning removes winter debris and prepares the dock for increased activity, reducing safety hazards and potential damage to boats. By taking the time to clean your dock before the boating season begins, you're not only enhancing its appearance but also ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for your waterfront activities. #DockCleaning #BoatingSeason #WaterfrontMaintenance #DockCare #SpringCleaning #SafeBoating #WaterfrontActivities #DockSafety #DockMaintenance #BoatDockCleanup #SpringBoating #WaterfrontLiving #DockLife #CleanDockHappyBoating

Everyone knows that the best part of boating is spending time on the water. Seems obvious, right? But let’s face it, we’re all busy, and there are myriad reasons we end up on land—schedules, projects, weather. Well, don’t let service be one of those reasons. If you have a Boston Boatworks-built boat, might we recommend joining our Concierge Program. Tailored to fit your needs, and your schedule, our Concierge Program is a year-round service program designed with two goals in mind: to keep your boat in the best condition possible, and to keep you on the water. In addition to off-season service and storage, members of our Concierge Program benefit from regular in-season visits from the Boston Boatworks service staff to ensure that your boat is running at the top of its game. This keeps you, and your boat, on the water longer. And at the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about. Hit the link to learn more. https://lnkd.in/erczmJYe
