The Biden Administration began its first term in January 2021 with a number of commitments to preserve and strengthen the ACA and Medicaid, and to make health care more equitable, affordable, and accessible, including for the #LGBTQ community. Since that time, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has proposed various regulations to advance the Biden Administration’s healthcare agenda, including rules that strengthened network adequacy protections, shored up formulary non-discrimination protections, and reinstated and supported standardized plans available in ACA marketplaces. What are Mask Blocs? Blocs are formed when individuals or groups unite around a common goal. Blocs can take many forms, ranging from voting and political pressure groups to advocacy groups and mutual aid organizations. Mask Blocs are independent mutual aid groups providing high-quality masks to their community for free. They may also provide other tools and information about COVID-19, clean air, testing, vaccination, and accessibility. During Pride Month, it's especially important to ensure our LGBTQIA2S+ community, including disabled and chronically ill queer and trans folks, can participate safely. 🌷 Making Mother’s Day more inclusive! 🌷 🌈 We must acknowledge and honor nontraditional forms of motherhood. This includes celebrating adoptive mothers, foster parents, and guardians who provide nurturing and support regardless of biological ties. Recognizing the struggles and triumphs of single fathers, grandparents raising grandchildren, animal parents, siblings who step up as parents and LGBTQ+ parents expands the narrative of maternal love and sacrifice. 🌈 Creating space for individuals to share their unique stories and experiences of caregiving promotes understanding and appreciation for diverse family structures. 🌈 Additionally, businesses and organizations can promote inclusivity by offering diverse Mother's Day merchandise and messaging that reflects the full spectrum of caregiving roles. This sends a powerful message of acceptance and validation to individuals whose experiences may not align with traditional notions of motherhood. 🌈 Ultimately, embracing inclusivity on Mother's Day enriches the celebration, making it more reflective of the complex and multifaceted nature of caregiving in today's society.
