Now it shows what a community can do when they focus on the issue of affordable housing.
"Now my family has a place to call home, and in a neighborhood that I helped to build!" -Cornerstone Habitat homeowner Monique Lujan Community personsified! Current Cornerstone residents were front and center at today's dedication of the 2nd phase of affordable single-family homes. Cornerstone apartments residents Ioyanna and Antoinette joined with phase 1 homeowner Monique to welcome and present gifts to the next 9 families as they received keys to their new homes. Congratulations to all the new residents of the Cornerstone community. Cornerstone is a first-of-its-kind community, featuring 18 new affordable Habitat homes and 108 Mutual Housing affordable apartment rentals. We're thrilled all of the homes are nearly 100% occupied, meaning around 400 people are now living in permanently affordable housing. We're looking forward to our whole community grand opening and block party later this Summer! Congratulations on today's milestone to all our project partners at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento, Sunseri Construction, Sacramento County and District 2 County Supervisor Patrick Kennedy, SMUD, U.S. Bank, LSS of Northern California, and Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency. Together we are able to bring new solutions for generating the affordable communities across the housing spectrum.
