May is Mental Health Awareness Month, reminding us of the importance of prioritizing mental well-being, especially in the workplace. Employees increasingly rely on employers for support, yet satisfaction with employer efforts is declining, with 1/3 of employees rating their employers’ efforts to help as “Fair” or “Poor”.* What can employers do? Carriers like Mutual of Omaha are here to help with mental wellness programs like Mutual of Omaha’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP). May is Mental Health Awareness Month, highlighting the importance of workplace well-being. With 78% of employees agreeing that an employer has a responsibility to ensure their mental health and emotional well-being, and 54% expressing that mental health benefits have become more important for employers to offer over the past year, employer support is crucial. A significant portion of American workers face mental health challenges that affect their performance, and they increasingly seek assistance from employers. However, satisfaction with employer efforts has seen a decline. Employers play a vital role in fostering mental well-being. Fortunately, Mutual of Omaha offers support through its Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Our EAP provides confidential counseling and resources, tailored to individual needs, both in-person and through telehealth services via BetterHelp. Together, let's prioritize mental health in the workplace. #MentalHealthAwareness #MutualofOmahaEAP Source: Employee Benefit Research Institute and Greenwald Research, 2023 Workplace Wellness Surveys

85% of People Aren't Flourishing, But They're Not Mentally Ill Either. Many people associate "well-being" solely with treating physical & mental illness. But at Mirai Work Space, we understand that true well-being goes beyond that. As a space for wellbeing expert, I found a fascinating statistic at the recent Global Wellness Institute (GWI) webinar: 85% of the population falls into this category – not diagnosed with mental illness, but also not thriving. #MentalHealthAwareness #WellbeingForAll This highlights the importance of addressing everyday stressors, anxiety, and loneliness in the workplace for everyone. Learn more about GWI's free Mental Wellness Policy Toolkit (it's more of a guide!) and discover practical steps for fostering employee wellbeing: https://lnkd.in/eh539NGp #WorkWellbeing #EmployeeWellness #MentalHealthAtWork #FutureofWork #ThrivingAtWork Jenna Mikus, PhD

Keeping kitchens cooking, one brigade at a time. I equip chefs with proper useful resources for daily resilience and year round health. Author of A Year of Veggie Adventures.
Welcome to cynics corner where we demolish the fallacy of workplace wellbeing. Let’s examine the people and protocols in place to supposedly keep you healthy. Appointed workplace mental health persons. These are employees who have completed a 1 day training focused on learning to spot when colleagues are exhibiting signs of struggle. It’s a good start but it’s a reactive approach. 'First you fall apart, then we see if we can spot it' It's like loose and holey safety net. It is of course useful to have employees on site with mental health awareness training, but all they can really do is shine a spotlight on you so that the company can make minor adjustments and allowances for your situation. By the time someone is evidently struggling, what they really need is a complete break from life. Time off. Understanding and targeted support. A cocoon to rest and recover. This is extremely difficult to arrange and in our culture we dont do that until it's inevitable - when we have completely and utterly collapsed. There is a better way. By implementing pro-active health and wellness education into schools, colleges and workplaces. If it’s not-proactive, it’s not health. Do you agree that is is time to stop calling holey safety nets 'Wellbeing'? #Nomorewellbeingwashing #workplacewellbeing #hospitality #respectthechefs
