Imagine a farm that restores nature and ignites passion for agriculture. 🌿 I recently came across the inspiring story of Frutos del Guacabo in Puerto Rico. Their approach to farming is nothing short of extraordinary: 🍃 From Farm to Table: This farm is like a botanical garden, showing visitors the journey of food from farm to table. 👨🍳 Collaborative Culinary Adventures: They work with chefs and diners to innovate and enhance Puerto Rico’s cuisine. 👩🌾 Inspiring the Future: Engaging with students, they show that farming is an exciting and viable career. 🌿 Healthy Soil, Healthy Food: By enriching soil with compost and using hydroponics, they promote sustainability and urban farming. 🐝 Nature’s Helpers: They attract pollinators and use herbs for natural pest control, creating a self-sustaining ecosystem. Frutos del Guacabo is a beacon of innovation, education, and sustainability. It’s a story that reminds us of the incredible potential in agriculture. 🌍✨ Read more in the Global Farmer Network article below.

🌱 Regenerative agriculture holds immense promise for farmers and the environment alike, offering solutions to challenges such as extreme weather and biodiversity loss while boosting farm economics. 💪 But what do farmers need to successfully embrace these practices? According to the The Wall Street Journal article below, they need: Supportive policies and payments for ecosystem services 🏛️💰 Financial incentives and derisking mechanisms 💸🔍 Technical assistance and peer-to-peer support 🛠️👥 Agreed environmental outcome metrics 📊 A culture shift within farming communities 🚜🌱 By providing these resources and fostering a supportive environment, companies like #TeamBayer can empower farmers to thrive with regenerative agriculture. As someone who has worked in Agriculture for 30 years, I came across the Green Alliance earlier this year, which is trying to influence environmental policy towards a greener future. They have published a thought piece on the different tribes within Agriculture. https://lnkd.in/eT9WaeQK They identify four types of farmers with differing views of how farming should evolve to meet the planet's needs in the future Traditionalists - Who wants the status quo in farming Agroecologists- Who believe that dramatic socioeconomic change is needed to address the underlying issues in food and farming. Technovegans - Believe that making food with less farming will solve the world's problems. Sustainable intensifiers- Believe that farming innovation rather than food innovation is essential. I do not judge who is right or wrong on this; however, where are the institutions and people who can create the space for all of these people to collaborate?

Happy #InternationalLiteracyDay! Literacy isn't just about reading and writing—it's about empowerment. It's important to recognize the vital role of literacy in promoting sustainable agriculture too. Literacy empowers farmers to adopt eco-friendly practices, make informed decisions on crop management, and embrace innovations like organic farming, biochar, and automation. With access to education, farmers can implement alternative pest management techniques and use sustainable materials like cocopeat and vermicompost, contributing to a healthier planet. By spreading knowledge and raising awareness, we can help build a greener, more resilient agricultural future. #literacy #literacyday #empowerment #sustainability #sustainableagriculture #sustainablefarming #aaryagroup #aaryaorganics

Agriculture seems to have the greatest opportunity to address projected overages or gaps in the biodiversity, freshwater, and nutrient planetary boundaries by 2050. Agriculture levers account for 72 percent of the total identified improvement in biodiversity loss, addressing 35 percent of the global overage in 2050. Agriculture could also bring the world within the planetary boundary for forest cover loss, address 82 percent of the gap to the freshwater consumption boundary, and meet 94 percent of the gap for nutrient pollution in 2050. ** Genuinely embedding the value of natural capital into the fabric of economic decision-making is crucial to achieving a sustainable balance between man and nature.

On Wednesday, we hosted the first webinar of the series "Voices of the Field", a webinar series featuring farmers, research universities, multinationals and more discussing the main blockers to scale regenerative agricultural practices. This webinar featured Boris Spassky, co-founder of GreenPods (regen ag nut-farm with locations in France and Spain), Valentin Pitiot (Agronomist Lead at Kelp Blue) and Anouk Bosman (Marketing Lead at Kelp Blue). A big thanks to them. In a nutshell, we discussed the urgency of scaling to regenerative practices; Boris shared his personal journey from small pilot projects to a fully integrated regenerative system on his farm. He highlighted the challenges and benefits of scaling, and the external pressures driving the need for rapid expansion. We discussed the challenges in scaling, focusing on financial hurdles, how funding was raised, and the difficulty of hiring skilled workers in regenerative agriculture. Curious to see the webinar?
