The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) has partnered with the government of Rwanda (GoR) to ensure that sustainability and green growth are core principles in Rwanda’s future growth and development. The partnership between GGGI and GoR aims to ensure that the country’s growth and development mainstream sustainability and #greengrowth as core principles. GGGI in Rwanda has contributed to government priorities in the areas of green urbanization that is centered on economic development, environmental sustainability, gender equality, and social inclusion. The National Roadmap for Green Secondary City Development adopted in 2016 set the necessary policy framework that guided the EDPRS2 in Secondary Cities as well as sustainable infrastructure initiatives such as green city master plans, district development strategies, green buildings, sustainable mobility, waste management, public spaces, and most importantly attracting #greeninvestment finance. Capacity development and coordination of the GoR’s work on green growth has been the hallmark of GGGI’s engagement through tailored technical advisory support rendered to different government institutions and agencies at the national and sub-national levels. 👉 Discover more about GGGI's in Rwanda https://lnkd.in/dSdFhC57

I am pleased to share with you a resource material about mainstreaming gender equality, disability, and social inclusion in a circular economy. This is not a research paper but more of a framework- a set of principles and possible strategies to make a circular economy inclusive. This can serve as a mind map to help our policymakers, city planners, and environmental officers. I wrote this with the goal that whenever we develop a program on circular economy, we automatically consider the impact and benefits for people from all walks of life. I hope this brief material can spark further discussion on better practices in an inclusive circular economy. #GEDSI

🤴 Through the establishment of the Pan-African Bean Research Alliance (PABRA) in 1996, CGIAR scientists recognized the power of improved bean varieties to enhance food security and economic stability for farming communities. PABRA's work in developing new bean varieties that grow faster, yield higher, and withstand climate challenges has benefited over 37 million smallholder farmers, with 58% being women, across Africa. This effort has not only increased production and profitability but also improved nutritional value, with PABRA's high-iron beans even incorporated into school menus, combating malnutrition and enhancing academic performance. PABRA's exceptional achievements were acknowledged with the Africa Food Prize in 2023, highlighting their leadership in expanding bean biodiversity and driving systemic change for poverty alleviation, gender equality, and a resilient food system in Africa. 🔗Read more: https://lnkd.in/ey56ZWNZ 🔗Read our Investment Case here: https://lnkd.in/eT9U5Stj Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT #OneCGIAR #WithScienceWeCan

Join us! The third #GINI_H2020_WebinarSeries will be on Migration. Despite the apparent downward trend in occupational segregation by origin and gender in the EU, cross-country analysis shows the existence of different inequality patterns with a geographical component. Heterogeneity emerges as a key feature within the EU, since the behaviour of EU-born movers and third-country nationals differs according to the host country. Understanding this reality can help policymakers not only in the establishment of a common migration framework, but also in the development of tailor-made integration policies. As development practitioners, we cannot afford to overlook the importance of gender mainstreaming when working in rural communities. It's not just about equity—it’s about building resilience. In agriculture and social development sectors, women are often at the frontline, yet their contributions remain underutilized due to gaps in gender inclusivity. A capacity-building program that actively integrates gender considerations doesn’t just empower women; it transforms entire communities. Take, for example, programs that train women farmers in post-harvest handling and market access. Studies show that when women are included in these initiatives, agricultural productivity increases by up to 25%. Gender-focused training leads to more resilient families, diversified incomes, and stronger community bonds. It’s time for organizations to prioritize gender-inclusive capacity building, because sustainable growth hinges on the empowerment of all community members. Let's move from token inclusion to strategic gender mainstreaming that benefits both men and women alike.
