On this day in 1807, MWH cofounder Thomas Hawksley was born. Considered the best water engineer of the 19th century, Hawksley brought England its first pressurized water system. This system saved countless lives during an 1848 cholera epidemic. 217 years ago, Hawksley dedicated himself to building a better world, and we carry on that commitment today. #BuildingaBetterWorld #MWHHistory #CleanWater #History #ThomasHawksley #19thCentury

Did you know Texas boasts 23 river basins, with surface water being a vital resource, comprising nearly 42% of the state's water usage in 2019? Despite its significance, surface water is projected to rise to 46% of the total water supply by 2070, according to the 2022 State Water Plan. Yet, challenges like aging reservoirs and limited new reservoir sites loom, underscoring the need for sustainable water management strategies. #TREADCoalition #TexasWater https://lnkd.in/gj4rdrVJ

Texas water fund to improve state water supply I know you know what we did. Texans overwhelmingly voted to support the billion-dollar allocation for water and wastewater infrastructure made possible by @Txlege in 2023. It was the most important session for water in many, many years. Then again, I don’t know anyone who voted against this smart policy. Do you? FOR Prop 6 1,966,583. or 77.64% AGAINST Prop 6 566,257 or 22.36%

As rain and snowmelt cascade across the USA Garrison Fort Sill cantonment area, much of it flows over buildings and pavement, which are impermeable surfaces that prevent water from soaking into the ground. The runoff is channeled through storm drains into nearby creeks, such as East Cache Creek, Sitting Bear Creek, Medicine Creek, Wolf Creek, and Mission Creek. Eventually, these waterways converge and drain into the Red River, which flows into the Gulf of Mexico in Louisiana. Read more how Fort Sill is teaming with Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality to protect surface water quality and groundwater resources by minimizing increases in runoff. http://spr.ly/6045cQTnf
