Have you tried our scenario-resource Vorby? 🧡 Our youth is not thriving. With more than 150 stakeholders, we reimagined this challenge. Using futures and scenario design, we co-created the resource Vorby, a tactile and sensorial manifestation of what a city in which young people thrive could look like in 2050. The city is based on seven principles – see them in the pdf below 👇 The principles present an alternative to our current approach to well-being, including new strategies for working, growing a family, and forming communities. 📊 How are city leaders using technology to better understand residents’ needs? We are inspired by Alcaldía Mayor de Bogotá, where the mayor is using a digital #Whatsapp tool called Chatico to enable more than 147,000 residents during the public comment period to voice their priorities for the city’s next four-year development plan during the public comment period—many of whom participated for the first time in such a process! This platform’s participation captured an unprecedented volume of proposals from Bogotá residents. Chatico’s success demonstrates the powerful impact of digital tools in making urban governance more inclusive and responsive. How can AI help us design more liveable cities? AI tools are making it easier to imagine new solutions for cities, showing how streets could be planned differently. 🏙The urban landscape of many different cities around Europe - and the world - is currently characterised by a supportive wave of co-creation and innovation. However, #UrbanDevelopment still faces several challenges. Little Island NYC, a public park designed by Heatherwick studio perched over the Hudson River, opened to the public in May 2021. Since then, over 1.5 million people visit annually for various reasons. AEA was commissioned to develop Little Island’s first ever social impact study to better understand how its space and activities (arts and community programming and workforce development) impact the local community, visitors, artists, and staff. We looked at a number of research questions and uncovered new ones: Who are the current visitors of Little Island, and how do they perceive it? What are the primary reasons for visiting Little Island? How does the physical design of Little Island shape user experience? Does it work as a place? According to the World Bank, over 1 billion people globally live with some form of disability, making digital accessibility a critical component of ensuring equal access to information and opportunities for all. Today, on #GlobalDigitalAccessibilityDay we had the pleasure of listening to Dr Scott Hollier who has the lived experience of disability as a person who is legally blind, and as such has both a professional and personal understanding of the importance of accessibility. He shared simple strategies to make workplaces/products more accessible like 💡 Incorporating descriptive text for images, ensuring keyboard accessibility, maintaining clear navigation menus, high contrast colors, accessible forms and many more...
