🪄 Wow—what a night! The magic came alive last Friday at The Barns at Wolf Trap, and it’s all because of YOU. Thank you for making our Autumn Evening of Enchantment event a sparkling success! From the moment you stepped inside, the evening buzzed with excitement. The cocktails and mocktails weren’t just drinks—they were potions of delight! That jazz band? They were smooth as butter, setting the perfect tone for an incredible evening. The 360-photobooth captured joy from every angle, making memories to last long after the night was over. The real magic, though? The real magic of the evening resonated through the heartfelt stories shared by people impacted by CRi over the past 50 years. Your participation in the evening wasn't just fun—it was transformative and powerful in support of our mission. We'd like to send a special abracadabra to all of our supporters, especially to the Shrivastava Family, our Presenting Sponsor, whose generosity sprinkled pixie dust over the entire evening. To all our attendees, sponsors, volunteers, and of course, you—thank you for making this event unforgettable! We have such amazing partners on our team. We look forward to coming together again soon in support of our mission. Thank you, again, for all that you do for us. We had an amazing time!!

Thanks for being there and making it wonderful! 😊 As a team manager, award nights are special because we want to make them as memorable as possible for our team. 🏆 Here’s what we do to make it an unforgettable night: Before the Event -Prepare Party Poppers and Flowers: The excitement starts as we pick beautiful flowers and party poppers. 🌸 🎉 (Yes, these items do get sold out, and we face hiccups like the party poppers not getting delivered due to too many being purchased at a go😂) -Hyping for the Event: We create buzz leading up to it with reminders of how significant this event is and recap their focus and positive traits to getting there📢✨ During the Event: -Coordinate the Winners: The team ensures the winners have their big moment on stage. We hand them flowers, shoot the party poppers, and cheer loudly. 🌟👏 we make sure to tell them how proud we are of them. ❤️ Post-Event: -Memorable Highlights: We edit the photos and videos to make a highlight reel for their Instagram and Wechat! 🎥📸 Hearing feedback from the team, like “This was the best award night ever!” and “I felt so appreciated!” makes all the effort worth it. 🥰 To other managers, what else could we have done to make the winners feel memorable and special? 💡

Believe we have to be vigilant for signs of softness in live events. Every analysis we have seen on the sector recently indicates continued strong growth ahead. However, in recent months I've seen a number of warning signs flash related to demand. I do wonder if we are seeing a case of highly attenuated demand fatigue as consumers slowly exhaust their post-COVID savings. The question was always if COVID generated a short-term "bump" in live or if it ushered in a (positive) reactionary "era" of live growth, a sort of roaring twenties. Most analysts believe the latter. Have you ever wondered how to make your event packed to the brim with your desired attendees? Here are tried-and-true methods for making your next event a sold-out success. The first thing you need to learn is to announce your event as soon as possible; this cannot be overemphasized. If it is a recurring event, begin announcing the next event as soon as the last one has ended. This raises awareness of your event and allows you to reach the intended audience on time.

Save the date
Save the Date! Our 3rd Annual GALA is scheduled for Saturday, January 27, 2024. Even more exciting is our keynote speakers and guest. Keynote speakers will be Dr. Quintard Taylor along with his daughter, State Representative Jamila E. Taylor. This dual presentation will be amazing. We are so excited to have them. Also in the room as a guest speaker will be our National President of NAREB, Dr. Courtney Johnson Rose - PhD, PMP, CCIM, M. CD, GRI. What a privilege it will be to have Madame President here to celebrate with our local Realtist at our GALA. Let’s show up and represent the best of Western Washington Realtist. So, Save The Date now on your calendars. Actual registration should be open around the 1st week of December. We will definitely update you when it’s ready. We had a blast last year and as always, are looking to make this GALA even better. You don’t want to miss this one!

Thanks to Rob Norman and Digiday, I needed a laugh today and this post got me all nostalgic. I honestly haven't kept track of how many digital events I've spoken at around the world. My roles in hosting, producing, or serving on content and editorial boards have led to some interesting experiences, to say the least. Much to the chagrin of older and wiser Kevin, slightly younger Kevin always approached a speaking invitation with value first, self interest a distant second. The event organizers seemed to think similarly for a time, seeking out people who could shuffle the corporate coil and add value. Then one day -- and I remember this distinctly-- I was speaking at an event in DC and realized I was the only one who hadn't paid to be on the panel. While the formulaic approach (speaker company, speaker company) has taken longer to rot in the sun, the decline of quality content and its relationship to undisclosed (or disclosed) financial relationships shouldn't surprise anyone. So here's my handy dandy -- no longer any skin in the game-- guide to attending events. When an event stops inviting people who can (and enjoy) calling bullspit, find another one. When you go and feel as though you and your time have been sold to the highest bidder, find another one. When an event "asset" is sold to another company seeking to "monetize it" better, said effort is 100% guaranteed to disgorge the event's soul, so find another one. When you look around and see the same people talking about the same things, who all paid the same amount "for the honor of being invited, " who are all beholden to the same people, you should probably... I'm attending and speaking at far fewer events these days. When I do, I'll post about it and let you know. I don't do pay for play and I promise I'll call them as I see them. https://lnkd.in/erx4xDUn

We're celebrating our Changing Work members with CAKE day :-) Wanna join us? But...why C.A.K.E.? Ahh, that's the secret sauce - it's our value proposition to our members. We figure if we can help them all be more successful, it has a multiplier effect - they'll help lots of leaders and organizations Change Work. And (partially because I have a crazy sweet tooth), we're giving them C.A.K.E. C - Community - Because it can be lonely doing this work. We're all in it together A - Amplification - We help amplify these members and their work K - Knowledge - We're curating the best practices of running a solopreneur business and the best practices of conscious business E - Effervescence - Ahh, the magic that happens when a group of us are all headed towards the same goal Interested in joining the fun? Get your CAKE at www.changingwork.org Just curious? Comment below and we'll send you the link to the event. (This Thurs 9am PT) #changingwork, #consciousbusiness, #community Nicholas

One question can be the difference between a ho-hum gala and something extraordinary. What’s the question? “What would have to be true if _____ (happened)?” This forces us to determine what we want the future to look like. Then it requires us to figure out all the details, the steps required to bring the future to life. Many events are average because teams skip this critical step. As a result, they overlook so many details. Step 3 in 7 Secrets to 7 Figure Galas is Nailing the Details. Getting the right details locked in means we must begin with the end in mind. Which is why we use the question I started with: “What would have to be true if _____ (happened)?” So try this: Ask your team the question. Capture all of the answers. Congrats! You defined all the work required for a successful event. Seven-figure galas aren’t an accident. When you plan with intention, you set yourself up to win. When you do things others “can’t” or “won’t”, you recognize the advantages others never see. Yesterday, McKinley got invited to a sleep over at a friend’s house. This is how the convo went: MK: “Dad, can I sleep over at Elsie’s?” Me: “Yeah, sure. What time?” MK: “6” Me: “Ok, it’s an easy walk. Let’s leave by 5:30” MK: “We aren’t walking. It’s like a 5 minute drive.” Me: “It’s also an easy 1.5 mile walk and will be fun. At the end, you will get to hang with Elsie and have a great time.” Eventually, McKinley came around and we walked. We also had about 5” of snow the night before. But, we did it, accomplished our goal, took in the scenery and talked for 32 minutes. Once we arrived, McKinley was happy to see her friend. She felt proud and accomplished and talked about all the cool things she saw on the way. She wouldn’t have had the same feeling and experience if we took the car. In business and any competitive environment, there are shortcuts. But, we need competitive advantages. Sometimes the different way, or the long way is more rewarding and will yield better outcomes. Thanks for taking the long way with me, McKinley. Take the trip. Shake the hand. Sponsor the event. Speak at the event. Do something different. Stand out. Show up
